The interior is what is driving me crazy. I want newer seats as I get older and fatter I want to be comfortable. I'm thinking black leather for the front seats but not sure yet.

I know the body will be wiped clean of any crome. Anything chrome that will be left will be painted black.

Int the Pocket -- That has to be the biggest joke of th year. "Sleeper rims". Ha, think you'll pull up to some yuppie in a rice burner and sucker him? That 396 sounds so bad people won't ever even see the rims. BEAUTIFUL!

I just got back from dropping it off for the engine swap. 12 Mile trip seemed like a 200 mile trip considering it is 90 degrees out with no AC and factor in all the great fumes coming up through the floor... Brought back some good memories even though my eyes were burning and tearing...

I'll take some pictures of progress throughout the next 3 to 4 weeks.

I have to determine the engine colors and am looking at pictures on the net. I like different things from the norm!!

I don't know about virginia but here on Long Island their are alot offast 10 secimports and yuppies with supercharged audis and turbo charged supras and host of other cars that are everyday runners. I also have 2004 GTO with 420rwhp that I drive everyday. I am biggtime muscle car person. You are right though once they hear my 3 1/2 inch exahust they are gonna know they are racing a sub 10 sec street car. I don't have a 396 I have a 512 bbc. At least I hope it runs sub 10 sec on spray we will see in the nextcouple of months.

Smitty

You work fast. Good luck again. Look on ebay for seats. I have seen nice ones on their for a fair price.

Is this hood too much? Will I be able to see over the top?

8" Cowl Induction Hood
originally purchased for a 1979 camaro but was never put on...
has never been drilled or pinned...
Black fiberglass... Hardwood brand...

Smitty

That hood is way to high. That is for a race car with 2inch carb spacer and nitrous plate. I fit my tall deck bbc under a 2 1/2 cowl and its tight . I had to custom make a air cleaner to fit under the hood. Go with a glasstek 4 inch cowl or keep the hood you have . My 454 fit underneath the same hood you had pictured in the begining of your post. The seats are perfect for your camaro. I think you should keep the hood you have. I was able to fit a 454 with a edelbrock victor and 750 double pimper with 14 x 4 air cleaner under that same hood. At worst you can use a 1 and 3/4 drop base aircleaner assembly and your golden.

You have no idea how much I appreciate your advise. I thought that hood was HUGE! I'm probally going to get those seats this week. I don't think it will take too much work to get the seats in. They are from a 1997 Firebird.

Kevin and Iffy from SK Built the motor. NRC did the cage and the rear. My buddies and I did the rest, Body and paint by Timmy at Autbahn. The car is Oil Slick Black and their is not a ripples in the body at all. My buddy Timmy is a freakin Dynamo at body work and paint. Highly recomend him in the NY area.

If you can swing it the leather is always better.

If I was just doing it for me, this is what I would do. 454 with a shaker hood scoop, or GM 8.1 liter with a shaker hood scoop. You're going to get so many opinions on here it's unreal. To me, when I tell someone I'm building a hot rod, they want to hear about displacement. Also, when I was a teenager, I had a Trans Am 455HD, so you can see my affection for a big block. Big displacement with the right exhaust is as good as it gets. Just idling it "pounds the ground". Just my 2 cents.

WOW, I skipped page 2, my mistake. INTHEPOCKET's got the right ideas.
