I love San Francisco. A great place to visit and the restaurants there are second to none.

Thanks guys, my pleasure!

The pics of the bridge under construction is the replacement span for the Bay Bridge which is suppose to be "earthquake compliant".

The Bay Bridge was damaged during the earthquake of 1989. A section of the upper deck broke loose and dropped down to the lower deck.

EIGHTEEN years later, they are still working on it! I heard that they expect it to be open for traffic sometime in 2012.

The swimmer is from the Dolphin Swim Club, in Aquatic Park. Water temp is 56 degree's. Brrrrr!!!

The party boat in the pic is the Bass Tub. Don't let the nets on it fool you. Since there isn't much fishing activity at the moment, they do Bay Tours for $10/head. He is based out of Fisherman's Wharf, so the tourists are right there for the taking. Hey, whatever keeps the cash flow flowing...

Nice. Lived ther for a while (Novato and San Rafael). Was there on business recently and had to go East on the Bay Bridge at 5:30pm - what a mess. Is the new bridge going to be as well as or instead of the Bay Bridge? I hope both will be kept!

Marin County is a beautiful place to live. Ever hear of Anthony's Autocraft in San Rafael?

Yes, as much as they NEED both sections, sadly, one is suppose to replace the other.

The original bridge section, which has already been "earthquake retrofitted" a few times, supposedly is not able to withstand another "big one".

Personally, I feel that we need all the lanes that we can get, but the enviro-whackos feel that we already have too many.

I'm just glad that I don't have to commute to the City (or live there). When we go there, it is for pleasure, so we can pick our time of day and day of week to go.

Oh, BTW, the toll is now $4 to cross the various Bay bridges and $5 for the Golden Gate.

If you recall, the toll charges were originally suppose to stop once the bridges were paid for. They've been paid for, for MANY years now. But once the Gov't gets their (greedy little) hands on money, they won't let go.

Wow, 5 bucks. I lived in Mill Valley a long time ago for a brief period and remember the fare was $2. I mostly hitch hiked in and always got a ride as 2 plus per car meant a free crossing. Is this still the case? Also got stuck on the bridge shrouded by fog once in traffic, the swaying of the bridge is something I'll never forget.
