Rybo,
Amazing pictures. I too have a passion for custom made boats. I think it's a huge shame that Rybovich no longer builds "small" boats. I'd be the first one to buy a 40-45 express/ walkaround boat from them.
Again, great pictures.
lCosta,
Are ya in the market?
These are not built by Rybo but then again Rybo never built something like this:
You really can't put any other builder in the same class as Rybovich. If they didn't start it all, they certainly refined it and took the prototype SF to the world. I have studied and admired the true genius that is Rybo since I was a littile boy. My life changed the day that I had the opportunity to visit the sleepy little Rybovich yard in 1979.
How many manufacturers/builders can put boats on a dock that span almost 60 years in age, and make all of us wonder which is the "new" boat? Timelessly elegant, awesome boats. This are handcrafted works of art, they have souls. No other builder even comes close. Rybos are not some "johnny come lately" floating clorox bottle flavor of the day. Don't get me wrong, I love all boats, but we must all tip our hats to the master boat builders at Rybovich. We should also say a special thanks to the owners of these boats that support this craft that so that we all may enjoy. Thanks rybo18 for the post!!
Well said. "They have souls". I could not agree more.
And thank you Rybo18 for the post

DDHand,
I wouldn't call the elevator on BULL a Rybo feature but, as with many custom boats, they will do whatever it takes to make the owner happy (read: open your checkbook). The CONQUEST is an older 65' Rybovich now based in Orange Beach, Alabama that originally had two elevators for the handicap owner.

Shin,
I can 't find one that used to be or is now called RESOLUTE. Can you get some details? Year built, size, original name or owner?
Gloria and Nelson Applegate. I think they built the Rybo, but am not positive. Their later boats were named MAKO. It would be a late 60's hull or early 70's when they had it. They built the Whiticar in '78. When they got out of St. Thomas because of the uprisings and went to Stuart full time they moved to a smaller Cubavich. They were friends with John and kay Rybovich

I think I have my stories all mixed up. I found Resolute at this site with all the other Ryboviches, but it appears to be a Cubavich that was made by Ryboviche http://groups.msn.com/RybovichBoats/...cboatlist.msnw
I remember fishing the Whitacar and catching my first several sailfish(I was 10), but I know the Cubavich came after the Whiticar. I didn't know they were made by Rybovich. I do know that they had a Rybovich before the Whiticar. I will have to find out the name of it.

Shin,
Very cool. It looks like your grandparents boat was a Cubavich built in 1959/1960. The Cubavich story is a fascinating one - Rybovich hull #10 was hauled by the Cubans during a tournament there in the 1950's and was measured, photographed, etc. About 8 were made, most of which survive today. Interestingly, the Rybovich family was aware of what was happening and even sold them hardware to outfit their new boats. They are definitely the best ever rybo-copies. If Carlos (owns TANGO) doesn't know where RESOLUTE is, it may never be found. If you have any old photos he would love to have copies.

Re: Rybovich rendezvous 2008 (lots of pics) NEW PICS ADDED THURS. 21st
Those two pictures on the web site I provide look like they were taken at my grandparent's house in Stuart on Old St. Lucie Blvd which was right down the street from the Whiticar yard and overlooked St Lucie Inlet. I am sure there are lots of pictures floating around, but I don't know who in the family has them. i will see what I can find out.
Re: Rybovich rendezvous 2008 (lots of pics) NEW PICS ADDED THURS. 21st
They had several boats named Mako (I think 3, including the Whiticar). I have emailed the relatives to see who has photos. My uncle is a professional photographer so I am sure he has photos, but his photo catalog #'s in the hundreds of thousands. We shall see.

rybovich18,
I can't get enough of the pictures you posted. I was wondering if you had any more info regarding the coffee table book you mentioned in your original post. I would love to get a copy when it's available.
Thanks,
JollyMonNJ

Jolly,
Pat Rybovich is publishing the book. When I get details about when it will be available, I will post. You could also send an e-mail to the Rybovich yard. They surely know more than me. During the rendezvous there was a film crew on hand all weekend making a documentary of interviews of people from the old days, old captains, long-time owners, etc. I can't wait to see that - there certainly will be some fascinating stories re. the old days

Ok, I know where the pictures are and they are here in town with my Aunt. They include pictures of the Cubavich (Resolute) and the Rybovich (Mako). I just have to get over there to filter through them all.

Hi Rybovich 18!
Thank you for posting such an awesome collection of photos!
As the Rybo-daughter writing the Rybovich coffee table book, it warms my heart to find this website and to learn of such appreciation for my dad's ol' gals!
You all might be interested to know that this was the first annual Rybo-reunion...the next event will be in February 2009 -- I'm shooting to have the coffee table book completed in time for the Second Annual RyboRendezvous! [keep your fingers crossed!]
I look forward to seeing you there!
All the best,
Pat Rybovich [Tommy's daughter]
PS If I can figure out how to do it, I'll post the press release that details the boats shown at the event...really exciting stuff!
