Hey, is it me or are these EXTREMELY similar to Yellowfins (or vise versa) ?
Whats the story?
Yellowfin started in 2000
Invincible started in 2006/7
They are similar in many ways at first look. Once you ride them and really looking into how they are built and the company (ownership) behind the boats they are quite different.
What did you think? I did not have time to sea trial the 33, but I really like it.
It appears that their rigging is improving versus the 07 show. Still not as slick as the YF though.
I am really interested in the Inv 33, YF 32, or 33T. I like the fact that the Inv 33 has a step down console and the covering for the rigging (a la Sea Vee). The 32 YF was sweet though.
Would you mind giving your opinion comparing your impression and the rides of the three?
Guys, when YF started they weren't what they are today in all aspects. In fact, my dad and I drove to meet Wylie many years ago when they first started. At the time, we weren't ready to buy one of his boats. Wylie's cousin is my dad's ex partner in a company we used to own. Although YF makes a very nice boat, I really don't think the fit and finish is very different. In fact, these boats are very similar. To be honest, I climbed on the 32 YF. The boat is great but I did not like the fact that the wiring is exposed. This may lead to problems. Everyone should be glad they changed the layout, and they added the cockpit hatches.
My 33 is rigged just as nice as the 32 YF. Both are beautiful, excellent riding boats.
Yf, Wylies hulls are very different than Hammers Invincibles. First, the Invincible was designed by Michael Peterson (SP?) and sold to Hammer and Alex. Yf is a Conch that Wylie added alot too in order to make the leap from 31' to 34 and 36 and even now the 42. The conch was I believe a high 20's in feet, so again Wylie added a great deal to what is now the Yf line. Both are great boats, but look closer, very different. Wylies flair is HUGE, Hammers not so much. Invincible has a tunnel in the hull, YFs dont. Bow of Invincible is fishable, Yfs...not always. One is a bit wider than the other. I can continue.......not the same hulls is the point. Both great boats, VERY FAST, VERY. Just when the time comes to write a check that big, make sure you find the boat for you.
The 33 is a great riding boat as we experienced on our demo. I also agree that Invincible has improved several aspects and overall it is a better product now then it was a year ago. In fact Rob Hammer told us over the weekend that they have worked hard to address many of the issues people had with the product last year. Those who inspected the boats from year to year can see improvements. That being said I still have some issues with the bilge. These photos are from the bilge of the 33 that was in water at the show. It is relatively new as the model was just introduced late last year. Does anyone know what that hole is for on the third photo along the transom? I forgot to ask.

I don't see how being a factory demo or hull #1has anything to do with corrosion.
thats horrendus! Almost every screw is rusted...that corrosion is obsurd. And those plastic valves do not belong in that caliber of a boat. Even my sail has all 316 in any much needed areas such as the bilge. I have no rust or corrosion like that and hardware is one of sails few weakpoints. And mines 5 years old!
This is just a guess as I'm not familiar with either boat, but from the pictures I've seen I would guess the YF is the better riding boat as well. The Invincible seems to carry its beam at the water line further forward.

Seriously, you should read your post, before you hit submit. You make yourself look bad with comments like these. Most people paying Invincible money 'use extensively' there boats.
Also, why is the back of the boat in the bilge Yellow? It that shadowing for the sun or some type of special resin for that area?
I have yet to ride an invincible, and plan on doing so some time this year. I have been on several other upper tier boats, and from what I see here in the pictures, I don't see an issue with construction. I do see some signs of corrosion which I think sucks!!! and I'm surprised Rob would have allowed that boat to be displayed in of all places the Miami boat show. With that being said, What I see is a hardware issue and not a construction issue or manufacturing problem. Boat builders acquire their hardware from certain manufacturers and of various qualities. In some case even the individual manufactures sell what should be high quality hardware that for what ever reason is acquired from another vendor, over seas, or is just screwed up in the manufacturing process, resulting in hardware that corrodes or brakes when it shouldn't. You usually see this on lower tier boats with cheap hardware but I have seen it on several upper tier boats, the most recent of which had to have every single latch and screw replaced under warranty.
Wildlines also points out an apparent yellow color on the inside of the back of the bilge. The funny thing is I'm not sure at what point people started caring so much about the finish inside the bilge as it relates to fiberglass and gel coat, but the reality is in boat at this price point it apparently it is something people look at. With that being said, I know Rob set out to build the best fishing boat around. There are things in the design of this boat that were truly the first of its kind, with fishing and ride being the first things considered in design. However, in order to compete in this arena, others things must be equal, and as far as the finish in the bilge area they apparently are not.
I can tell you that for me, When I buy my next boat I personally wont care if one has Gelcoat in the bilge and the other does not. There will be plenty of other factors that I consider more important. The problem is that I'm sure as is evident by several posts here, that there are people who care. I hope Rob takes notice to this and if it requires another couple hours of fabrication and glass work, to achieve a neater finished look in the bilge he does just that. I know that in the older Yellowfins, which this boat is always compared to, the finish was not what it is today, so hopefully Invincible also improves with time.
