When I was a kid growing up in Massachusetts all I wanted was a Boston Whaler. With all due respect to those who are current owners or fans I don't think the new boats could be any uglier. They just look fat and slow and hard to maintain. Great photos though....
I grew up on whalers...17', 18', 21', 24' all center consoles. Seems their designs are getting worse every year. The boats look like maintenance nightmares. Who puts padded bow seats on a center console?
Fat and slow, but don't forget pund the sh!t out of you.
"Who puts padded bow seats on a center console?" Are you really asking this? If so you need to get out of the house a little more. Just about everyone! Can you tell me who does not offer them? Its ok not to like them but don't be a hater with out some real issues. Now if you say that they are over priced then yes maybe so, but some of you guys need to step your game up a bit.
Girls, girls, girls...the man didn't call your mother a whore. He just stated his opinion and followed it up with a disclaimer so as not to offend you as a Whaler owner. Take it for what it is (an opinion) go have a beer and calm down...

Who doesn't put padded seats in the bow of a Center Console? Venture, Contender, Regulator, Yellowfin, Jupiter...
Padded seats are for pontoon boats. No seats beyond the helm on a real fishing center console. Try a bean bag chair in the cockpit.
I'm not bashing anyone's chioce in vessels here, but I have logged many many many hours on many different boats. Some of the most uncomfortable of which were on numerous Boston Whalers. That was all I knew growing up, until I was almost killed on one with a faulty fuel cell that could have BBQd my ass. Sold the boat and would never go back.
Go test ride the same size boat in a Contender, Regulator, or ANY CATAMARAN and see for yourself.
Whaler made good boats 30 years ago, but boat designs and materials have evolved. Whaler has not. The old hulls are still serviceable, but are nothing compared to newer designs by different companies.
Contender, Regulator, Jupiter, and Yellowfin (option) do offer them. The cushions ARE removable BTW!
And please try to remember that many boat buyers have to get approval for spending such a shi.load of money from the wife, and wifes like cushions (and toilets!). What's more important: having to remove a couple of cushions when she's not around, OR, getting grief (and no sex) for the next 6-60 months?

I would advise you to check out the pictures of the boats you mentioned that are on this same forum. Just scroll down to each and check out the pontoon boats that each is now making. As mentioned above they are all removable. I agree with you that Contender, Regulator, Yellowfin all make GREAT boats but I like Boston Whaler too.
