thanks ludicrous. exactly what I wanted to see on the 20. the price of that boat should have been around 52k, no electronics. I absolutly love that little boat, but is'nt one crazy to pay that much $$$$$ for a 20' boat so simple and spartan that when to turn around from the helm to look down on the cockpit floor, you literally see the bildge pump? I realize it is very well built with top notch materials and personnel, but boat seems to be overpriced for what it is.any thoughts on this?
Thank you for the photo's, this is the first time in years I was unable to attend the show, due to my beloved father passing away. I do have a 23 on order, ready early March. I priced out numerous other hi dollar boats (price not being an object) for the last 6 months and Albury was still less expensive by 10-25k. Yes their boats are spartan, but even if you add the extra items then it really change's the boat to something in between a fishing/cruising machine but was still fairly priced. We wanted it as simple as possibly, hose it off when done and put it on the lift. The quality is excellent, and the beauty is not only skin deep, it's in the bottom, and how the boat rides. Customer service is also excellent, and the up to date pics of the build make it easy to see the progress. The owner Jeff, is easy and straight forward to deal with. It doesn't get any better than this. BTW..The other boat I narrowed it down to was a Pacifica, another simplistic design, but also very well made. Both boats in my mind were made to last a life time. Thanks again for the photo's. Jeff Jassby
Way to go on adding the fs and fish box to the 23!!! This was a much needed change and was one of the main sticking points on the older model. Nice Call!!!
I've also got a 23 on order and a lot of factors went in to that decision. Ease of upkeep and maintenance is a plus to me. I doubt the bilge pump is visible when standing and even if it were it wouldn't be something that would bother me. I don't think value is increased just because the mfg puts the pump in an unfinished hole covered by a 4" plastic cover.
Thanks for taking the time to do the photos, Ludicrous.

Important to me too. Although I shudder to think of all the crap that ends up in that pump well besides water.

As an owner of an Albury Brothers 20 I echo the comments of others in that this boat is every bit worth the price and then some. I spent all day Saturday at the show and saw a number of boats in the 20' range which were priced in the neighborhood of the 20 and very few, in my opinion could match the fit and finish. And I know very few will match the ride. The clean even spartan interior is unbelievably easy to clean after a day of fishing. One of the things I have learned by owning an Albury is that I don't need half the junk I used to carry on my old boat. I was on another brands boat [don't want to upset any owners so I will not name it] but it must have had at least 15 compartments of all sizes. It was as though the designer felt they had to provide storage for anything and everything. All those hinges and latches to snag line and toes and interior compartments to mildew...forget about it! Met another owner at the show, a licensed captain and he regularly takes his Albury 20 to the Bahamas from Florida and this summer will be taking another trip, starting out in the Abacos and running all the way to the Turks & Caicos....what more can you say about a 20' boat.
Alburys are not for everyone but for the lucky ones who can own one your appreciation for the boat and classic design will only grow.
I loved these boats when I was at least years show. I couldn't agree more with the sentiment that sometimes less is more. However, I have hard time believing these boats run well in any kind of sea. I can't read the specs on the deadrise and we all know deadrise isn't the whole story but they look real flat. To the owners, can you elaborate on the ride a bit more? They are beautiful and seem built they way boats should be. I bet one of these boats will look virtually new 10 years from now with a minimum amount of effort unlike most of the plastic boats out there today.

They're variable deadrise boats... Meaning, (kind of like the panga underside) they start with a high angle dead-rise foward and end up at a 19 degree deadrise at the transom... This lets them cut through a chop pretty well, but also provides a pretty stable platform at rest... I was on a 20' Albury a few years ago and was very impressed with the ride... It's still only a 20' boat, but it rides like a bigger boat...

thanks lou for the input....still wondering how she is a self bailer
I almost posted a reply to this saying, "they're not," but then I looked at the spec sheet, and they do claim to have a self-bailing cockpit... I've never heard of a boat with a sump and pump claiming to be self bailing, unless maybe there is a thru-hull in the bottom of the sump that will drain at rest...? Looking at the pictures on their site, there do appear to be two drain tubes above the waterline at the transom, so maybe these drain deck water also?? Any owners out there have an answer to this...?
