Nothing really exciting to update on. We are debugging a few issues. We have not been able to get a tachometer to work for us, so we are waiting on a new tach to try. The Pyrometer, or exhaust gas temperature gauge will not indicate, so we are trying to swap out a gauge for that issue as well. The stereo and depthfinder needed little adapter bits and pieces that we have been waiting on.
The weather has been the real delay for us. During the first trip or two, it didn't matter how cold it was. Now, it is difficult to get excited about a boatride when it's 40 or less degrees outside.
The plan for this weekend is to install a new tach, pyro gauge, stereo/depth doo-hickies, and test things out. We have a prop or two to test as well, but we really need a functioning tach to determine if we have the right prop. Once we have all systems operating properly, we'll wait for some 70-plus degree days, allowing us to paint the hullside color, bootstripe, and non-skid in the cockpit. Tar Baby is also cracking the whip to get his project moving forward. He has a good heater but sometimes he's too tight to turn it on. His project is what we've been working on lately.
The 21 is doing fine. Thanks for asking. The weather has been hit and miss lately, mostly "miss". Lots of cold and rain. When it has been warm, we have tested several props and have others yet to try. We have most everything functioning properly now. We still have the hullside color and cockpit non-skid to do, just waiting for a warm dry weekend to get it done.
The boat handles the chop well and keeps us dry. The little diesel is a real joy to operate, and it sounds so good! We have made four 'day-trips' of varying lengths, and still have 3/4 fuel left in the tank. Very happy with the finished(almost) product.
We have plans to go lots of places in NC this summer, including Hatteras, Ocracoke, Belhaven, Morehead City/Atlantic Beach, Beaufort, Cape Lookout, Wrightsville Beach, Manteo/Nags Head, Oriental, New Bern, and of course, home base here in the original Washington. We'll post our travel plans and here's hoping that we can meet-up on the water somewhere and share some good times!
Gee it was like crack I looked at the first PIC and could not stop. The more I seen the more I wanted mesmerized by the detail. Beyond nice what a labor of love, excuse me I have got to go check myself into boat rehap
Victor has really been getting the paint done. He has found the waterline and the hull is now Fighting Lady yellow. Stainless is on and polished with the screws indexed. Nonskid is done on the floor. Next to be sprayed is the bootstripe. Should be on this week.
