Default Monster steelhead pics

Here's a couple pics of the biggest steelies by brother and I have caught this year so far. Overall we've had a pretty good year so far, alot of fish caught and some really nice sized fish as well. The first pic is my brother with his fish that went 18.5 lbs, the second is mine that went 17.5 lbs

Are those from the Pacific NW?

As far as steelhead go thats about as good as it gets! Nice catch--but you gotta give us some details 1. What did you catch them on? 2. What pound test? 2. When and where(general info not specific spots)?

Thanks

They were both caught on the Salmon River in NY. Both fish were caught on the same fly, a pattern by brother and I created ourselves that we named the steelhead asassin, this particular one was an olive pattern, very buggy looking fly. We both use 10' 8 weight G.Loomis GLX fly rods with a weight forward 9 weight line using a 8-10lb leader. My brother caught his 2 weeks ago and I caught mine this past monday the 12 th on a one day suicide trip from NH.

thunnus,
They are some beautiful fish. My friend Rob and I make the panic run up there from northern NJ every week. Some of my photos from Tuesday and Wednesday are posted also. Steelhead this year have been just awsome, alot of fish but mostly in the 6-8 range. Nice to see some bigger fish. Good luck for the rest of the season, we try to go every week right until spring.

The Salmon river is in Pulaski and Altmar NY. We call them suicide trips cause we work all day get home pack our gear, hit the road and drive 6 1/2 hours to the river. Once we arrive we gear up and hit the river after a quick trip to McDonalds, we then fish till dark grab another bite to eat, get out of our gear, drive 6 1/2 hours home, get about 3 hours of sleep and get up and go to work for another 9-10 hours the next day.
