Default Lazy day on Banana River

Spent a nice day today with family and friends @ Bird (poop) Island in the Banana River. Wasn't as crowded as I imagined and we all had a relaxing day.

hanging by our "water" camp

My sisters new 26' SeaRay they just bought last week... not a fishing boat but it's nice if you like Searays

Neice and nephew taking a break.

My buddy's new 26' Twin Vee (& a lonely beer)... pretty neat boat and very efficient.

My old Chapparel

Even the Law was a little on the lazy side.... they were thick everywhere we went but didn't see any problems. Enjoy

Looks like a great day on the river!

I often use the ramp at KARS park and probably go by that island. There are a bunch of the tailing islands in the BR and IR which go by a variety of names...there must be at least half a dozen that are called "ski" island! Is that the one just north of the barge canal inlet on the east side of the river?

Looks like ya'll had a blast. Where in Brevard Co. is this, I grew up down that way in Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, And Merritt Island but left in the late 70's after school '78 Cocoa HS (go Tigers) , I fondly remember fishing the Indian river over south of Rockledge.

Duh. Never mind. I found out it is the one next to Brady Island just south of Newfound Harbor.
For some reason I was fixated on the tailing islands north of 528.

Glad you got your bearings straight Bamboo...

Domino, these 2 islands are at the Southern tip of New Found Harbor. New Found Harbor is a peninsula of Merritt Island located South East of Central M. Island.
I live here on NFH not far from Angel City (lots of fishing history). People get these islands confused with Brady and George Islands but they are not them. I can't seem to find any other name than what we've called them for all these years (Bird sh!t).
If you kept going south from these islands you would have Cocoa Beach on the left and the southern tip of Merritt Island on the right. You may remember Mathers Bridge & the "green dragon" that has now been destroyed by the elements and vandals... but a neat boat ride for everyone. Thanks...
Oh, my sisters graduated from MI in '78... they may know you. Back then it was a nice small community, wasn't it?
I appreciate the compliments from everyone.
Go Mustangs!!!!

Here is some nice local info (and a pic or two) about the Dragon that was on the south tip of Merritt Island.

Thanks, MyJack. Ironically, I live on S. MI and drive by and look at Bird Island nearly every day. I've heard it called other names, probably not worth mentioning though.

I think I walked by you guys. I had a little yellow lab puppy with me and I was in a yellow center console. That sandbar is great! We used to always go to the western most island b/c the bird sh@t smell was so bad on that island, but it seems to have cleared up to some degree.

Next time please introduce yourself... i'll have a cold beer for ya.
& when the wind comes directly out of the east it can be a God aweful smell... almost unbearable.

The puppy was white. His name is Paco. Next time we get over there I'll definitely stop and say hello!

I grew up in Cocoa Beach, left in '92 and haven't been back since. I remember that green dragon. Used to head down there in my buddies 32' Chris Craft Stinger....and goto some restaurant on the water way down in Melbourne. The "wharf" or something?

The Stinger was nasty...twin 454's, with straight exhaust....shook every canal in a 4 block radius...

The good ole days....
