Ouch, I'll ask the mechanic about the oil pans. If you rebuilt yours after 8000 hours and my engines have 2200 hours, then mine have a long life ahead - spare parts willing. Thanks
Carlos
Cannot get images to upload, will try again tomorrow. C
Sam, my father has a coozie with Ram Runner on it. He probably got it from Rip Tide's part of the dock at Woody's. As for the engines, I hope they will be in the boat by tomorrow afternoon. Hurry up and wait.
Carlos
We hang out at the Palapa with Carl when we are over at Port A. His son in law is a friend of my brother and me. I have crashed out once or twice on the salon couch of the Rip Tide. There are a few ramrunner coozies laying around there.
Then I bet we have shaken hands before. You might remember my Dad, he is the almost blind old fart called Ranger.

Mako,
Your engines are a good CPL # 250B....5" exhaust elbows.
The real danger from sitting on the ground like that is when a small piece of debris ..stone ,workshop junk gets under the oil pan,it causes a hard spot which can crack the alluminum oil pan .
Just thought I would clarify ,I did not realise the problem on my boat until everything was installed and the engine was started and heated up.
Andrew, thanks for the advice and infoThe engines have been moved to the shipyard and will be installed this week. When all work is said and done, we will sea trial the boat without the decks so we can observe any and all problems. My big thing now is to find two Cummins instument panels for less than the $1800 per panel. Cummins does not sell the assembeld panel any more but it can be purchased in peices. If push comes to shove then I can have the panel custom made by a local outfit.
Things are starting to go together. New wiring, new Morse controls, painted bilges, new canvas, and a new head. We are still waiting on transmission dipsticks. The instrument panels will arrive next week. The engine side motor mounts are being remade as the slots weren't the correct size. Little by little things are gettin done.
Congratulations ! I am just completing a full restoration on a '82, 32' Blackfin. My hull is by Janace and is different than yours. Don't know whe they made the change.

Razz, I don't know when they changed to Janis. I do know that in the 1970s' it was Cary Marine and then they sold to Blackfin. What size wheels do you run with those 300 Cats?
Looking Good! One thing I see that I would take extra precaution on is what appears the fuel intake to the tank running over the exhaust. I know its diesel and I know they don't appear to touch, but I would take extra precaution there. Extra insulation on the exhaust in that spot and extra rigging to prevent the fuel hose from "sagging" or ever coming into contact with the exhaust hose. You can never be too safe.
You will love those Cummins Motors. We repowered our last boat with them in the 370 hp configuration. They are bullet proof. Good Luck!
Those boys look like the casting photos for 'Stand By Me'..! Good lookin' posse, great lookin' boat. My dad took a similiar photo of me and my bro 30 years ago, classic shot! The next one should be of them driving with your sunglasses on..! Getting close, keep the photos coming!
If I could be so bold I would suggest kill switches in the tower, I had one and on my test ride while docking a shift cable came a lose and I could not kill the engines from the tower. I had the factory install them. Good piece of mind.

Those are on the list for the shipyard. I thought about kill switches from the very begining of this project. In the past, I have had to shut down a couple of times on other boats due to some linkage malfunction. Thanks.
