I gotta tell ya, I'm not sure why, but it was a lot of fun. I also had/have a tremendous sense of accomplishment, while actually I've accomplished nothing
Congratulations. I have done marathons many many times, not on my feet, but on a scooter riding up & down the course keeping an eye on folks like yourself. One of my other hobbys is ham radio & for many years we did communications liasing with the first aid services as extra eyes on the course. 7 hours after start people are still trickling in, but they are determined to finish no matter the time.
My best ever was a half marathon run on the beach in Sea Isle City NJ log ago.... I only finished because my cheerleaders were near the end....
I have raced that before. I think I finished in the top 5. My best friend growing up has won it a bunch of times in the early 90's. I believe it was a 10 miler though. Used to be a 13.1M I think a very long time ago.
Right on - nice job! How was/is the recovery period?
Not bad--naturally sore for a while, but I ran 4 miles yesterday to work out the kinks, and I seem to be 100% today. The day of the race I stayed on the couch for @ 12 hrs. When I finally got up, I walked to bed and slept another 6 hrs
Congrats! I'm thinking that picture of you crossing the finish line with your time in the background should end up on a prominent wall somewhere. Very impressive.
