Random Quote: Fishing is not a matter of life or death.......Its much more important than that!!!!
I think it is dirt. Alot of boats had plastic thru hulls. I did notice quite a few bilges were dirty. The only one I saw that was super clean was Regulator. I asked about the thru hulls and most dealers had a dumbfounded look on there face. The only one that had a good comment was pioneer. He said most people do not notice; the ones that do know the details. Afew had plastci with chrome paint/plastic coating that looked like chrome.
They have come along way. The price at 74K seems high.
EXACT SAME THING THAT I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT. I think Trophy has improved leaps and bounds. BUT
The first thing I saw was the price. Thinking that was a bit high I checked what size boat. 75K for a 25 footer
AND ITS ONLY 8'.5" beam.
Boat pricing has gotten stupid! However, the boat manufacturers and dealers will soon figure out that this is the year 2008 not 2001-2005 when people where taking home equity lines of credit to buy toys and gas was under $2 per gallon.
The well has gone dry in America.
There is going to be some carnage in the boating industry.
Boating is returning to the realm of the rich man. Though I am not rich, I can still afford my boat and the gas, maybe this will reduce some of the insane boating traffic.

For kicks and giggles I checked the new pricing on my boat. 61K new! For a 24 footer . It seems that all manufacturers have decided to escalate their new boat prices from modest to STUPID!
However, I see a possible upside. When I go to buy my next new boat (or used top tier boat) this spring the value of my 2003 will be fairly high. BUT this coud work in reverse to. The economy and gas prices may be sending boaters to the golf course and selling their rides causing a glut of used boats. It will be interesting to see what happens.

The boat has decent lines. The hard top is real nice looking. Probably a pretty nice boat for someone who doesn't go offshore every weekend and doesn't want to mortgage their home and kids.

Still, the quality is in question for me. I've seen the pretty boats, I've also seen what happens after a year or two. Lots of guys will stay on top of their investment, keeping it looking very nice for a long time. However, if the thing starts to fall apart as you pound the bays or ocean, then looks don't matter that much. Not to mention resale value out the window!

7yrs 8 mos. on my Trophy...been to Bimini..keys..100's of offshore trips out of haulover inlet...2 bilge pumps replaced..1 SW wash pump replaced...1 spring strut for bait well...NOTHING else has failed...so I don't know what you've "seen"...but I haven't EXPERIENCED any "falling apart" of anything on mine...
