Random Quote: I'd rather hunt with Dick Cheney than ride with Ted Kennedy!
I'd take bow steering in a following sea over a 60 mile head sea thumpin anyday and twice on Sunday.
I'm guessing that you haven't run a boat over 60 miles what wanted to chase a following sea and had a strong desire to change course by 20-30 degrees (port and starboard) every 60 seconds? If you had, you would have never made such a comment. Besides, a good boat design can avoid both: 1) a bow steer and 2) a pounding head sea.
Although flare has its purpose, lift is not one of them. It may help in keeping the bow above water in extreme conditions but has nothing to do with lift. I think it is pretty cool looking but the sacrifice in interior space may or may not be worth it depending on your use and preference. That particular boat shouts "charter" to me without seeing the inside. That doesn't mean I don't like it though.
The old design/engineering saying goes: "Form follows function." The function of the bow of these boats is to cut and disperse whatever water, in whatever form it comes in contact with...like the looks or not, that's one water-cuttin' sum-beech...
Anybody wanna argue the "Too much flare" issue w/these guys?

I will tell you boys this, You wont appreciate that kind of flair untill you fish out of Oregon Inlet NC. Most of these boats are not your typical charter boats running at 18-24 knots. many of these boats are pushing 35-40 knots. We were running 34 knots last week and they were with us all the way 40+ miles. These boats run well in all seas it is amazing watching them come through the OI inlet when the white water is across the Bar. They are made for some of the most extreme conditions out there. If they have a charter they go 90% of the time......Mark
