Cichlids are beautiful hearty fish, but they are nasty. When I had my tank only certain fish could survive with cichlids. But if I get another tank it will be stocked with Cichlids.

Yes, thats what I heard. I used to have Tetras, but they don't live that long. Even though I had one that lived 2 years. So far I haven't seen any aggression. One of them likes to dig in the sand, I think it is making a nest. Pretty cool.
It's a shame it is illegal keep even one 'short' fish for your aquarium... Otherwise I could show you photos of a 55 gallon tank with juvinile local species in it. Flounder, weakfish, bass, puffers, tautog, bluefish, cobia, croakers, eels, starfish, seahorses to name a few... AND many tropicals that you NEVER would expect to find in the back bays of NJ, grouper, lookdowns, lion fish, butterflyfish etc...
I wish I had a picture of my old tank back in Texas. It was a 58 Show and set up as a saltwater reef layout. The 58 is not real big but I had a beautiful setup and the depth of the 58 is so much better than the 55 IMHO.
Scarab, that is a pretty tank you have there and very similar to how mine was set up. Still have a scar on my hand where my yellow tang got me one day. I see you have a clown (looks like you might have two) - those were my favorite just 'cause they had such cool personalities!

Wow, you guys are making me want another tank! Beautiful, ScarabChris!
I worked with a zoologist in the 1980's when I was in college, to set-up the first wet/dry filter systems. I had so many cool fish.....from the Red Sea, etc. I may want to go get a new one this weekend!
