I'm having a hard time with your math. Do they spawn in the cooler? That cooler must be huge if those fish are 18".

I was joking about both numbers........the correct numbers are 11" and 15 pp.....a couple fish did tape out at 18". The cooler is a 100 gallon fish box located in the bow.

I can vouch that those little fishes are some of the best eating off GA and SC coast. Too bad they don't grow to the 20 or 30 lb size frame. We used to use tripple bottom rigs and catch them 3 at a time. This time of year you can't miss the schools on the graph. Looks like the bottom rises 20 ft.

I love the hard bite and the bulldog pull............but why do they shrink when you pull them out of the water
Great fun and even better food.

they are one of the best. for a real treat bring one whole to a local "high-end" chinese restaurant - it will be the best ever.

I also love blackfish (tautog) and almost all snappers

We catch those near shore in the summer months here, along with fluke. They are the tastiest. Broil ' em with lemon and garlic, next to a little rice, and some suateed veggies, terryaki style, a few cold beers.....

Man, bring back summer.

65 feet and the water temp was high 50's, we use double hook rigs and cut squid or cigar minnows. Now if you want to make them really happy, catch and cut up another bsb and send that down on the hooks. The bastards are cannibals.

WOW?

I have caught those things and didn't know what they were, figured they were some sort of snapper so I threw'em back. Caught them in a place called the Hot Water Canal, it is a cooling water return for a power plant. I checked La. regs. no mention was made of number limit, all it states is a minimun size requirement of 8".

Try 2 bucktail 15" apart tipped with bluefish belly or squid This is a great rig for the big knotheads up here
