Default 1987 Montauk Christmas present

Here are the pictures of my kids opening the garage door to see their Boston Whaler Montauk I had restored. The boat came out great and should last many years.

Great gift!

Your boys didn't notice you doing the work?

Or you did it all down at the shop?

We started looking last spring. The best thing was when my kids would find one on the internet they would always ask how far away is X . the farthest place we found a nice one was Texas.
The boat will go on my mooring in Salem Harbor. It will make pulling the traps and fishing the rocks much easier!

Nice boat. What prop did you use with the Honda? Is it a 90?

Going to be some happy kids come spring.

Yes it is a 90 and it has the standard prop. If I put a stainless prop, they would rip the lower unit off on the first rock

Awesome gift ! I remember when I was 13 and my Dad gave me a 1965 13' Whaler. It needed alot of work and had a 40hp Merc. That thing was fast !! We fixed it up ran it for 5 years and sold it big mistake, it was a great boat. At that age, I would have loved a Montauk.

You got that boat for your kids ?!?!

Holy cow, those are some lucky kids. Let me know if you'd care to adopt. Me that is. I'm potty trained and my college is already paid for (Ok, so it didn't exactly occur in that order).

All I'd want is a whaler to call my own . . . . Dad.
