Re: Where'd all the hood ornaments go? Modern classics are a great springboard into the old car hobby. You learn how to fix the cars with models you can still easily get parts for. Or, you find out fussing with a tempramental old car isn't your cup of tea.
I'm not quite the old Ford expert yet, but I'd guesstimate the blue woody is a late forties Ford (46-49) and, the sand colored one is late thirties (34-38?). The grille shot woodie is an early forties woody. I dig the 40's Fords, if any of those had a flathead in 'em they'd be too cool.
You get into the really old cars, there's surprises like mechanical brakes (yes rods, levers and, springs) 6 volt electrical systems and, manual spark advance, along with in car fuel mixture adjustments and non synchronized transmissions (double clutching up down shifting). It's way cool though. |
