At the last minute Mike G. (Dauntless), Josh (Golden Dog) and Myself threw together a quick trip to the Outer banks to get one day of fishing . With the weather this year, its been hard to have faith in the NOAA boys!!! We left Pirates Cove at around 5:45 after the big boys left. If you have never made this 8-9 mile run in the dark from the 64 bridge to Oregon Inlet it is quite interesting!! We hit the Oregon Inlet right at sunrise and to our surprise the Inlet was the best that I have ever seen.
The following pics shows the rest of the story.......Mark
Thanks to Mike and Josh and their wives for cancelling there plans for the trip.
It was also nice chatting with HeadHunt on his boat and SouthernFried on his boat !
We ran a 100*course because part of the fleet seemed to scatter in different directions and this course put use somewhere between them.
Mike with the first fish of the day on the down rod on a Pink/Blue witch.
Mike and Josh waiting for some action.
Great day for trolling on the shelf.
Nice tuna on the deck and for the box.
Me with a nice Yellowfin. This one also hit the planer rod on a Blue/Pink witch with a med hoo.
We changed tactics late in the day running Spreader Bars and daisy chains and had a triple hook up but only managed one out of three nice Yellowfin. If you look close you can see a few whales in the pic.
Josh fighting the biggest fish of the day.
Josh and the slob!!!!!!! If he looks worn out well....
Heading in after a great day on the water. The fishing and the crew were great. You can see Mike if you look close enough. He claimed the bean bag.
I think this will be Josh's last trip for a while..
How's the boat running for you Mark and what time is dinner?

My wife and I are planning to leave South Florida and retire in Portland OR (family). Don't want to but I'm going to leave my 20'CC here in Miami. Guess I'll have to hook up with someone out there to satisfy my fishing needs or maybe get a bigger boat. Fishing does look good! Have to get used to the cool weather and cold water.
Chris,
Had Tuna for dinner tonight!!!!! The boat is great we ran out and back in @ 40mph cant complain about that 11 hrs on it Saturday and burned 85gal all day!! Not to shabby.I asked josh if he could go in about 3 weeks!?!?.......Mark
Angler204fx, Oregon Inlet NC I know it is misleading....Mark
Passed you in the bulk truck trailering in on 64 on friday morning round about the alligator river, but didn't have your number handy.
Those were real nice seas, the nicest I've seen the ocean this year. And 50 lb YFT's in them is even nicer.
Glad you guys got on some fish! Pretty work, and please tell Mike that my card table is now in the dumpster and the new fish cleaning station is in the works. Both he and his back will know what I mean.

I've also got an order in for some dexter russell's also, Gus, along with a good diamond hone, and also, I've been eyeing some 6' foot gaffs lately. (hint, hint).
Now if I could just convince Lisa of your "this is my jewelry" speech.....

Ask Mike and Josh about my Aftco gaff!!! 8' with a 3' extension (I dont use the ext.) But you can reach out and touch them with that gaff..... Mike was getting tangled in the outrigger... Mark
