What happened to the four guys you have working for you?
Give them some grinders and let them have at it. :grin:
Seriously, that's a big boat and that sure is going to be a lot of grinding before it's ready to do any glass work in there. Good luck.

Oh they were fine with cutting n tearing things out...mention grinding and they vanished!!!..

Front cabin area gutted....Front bulkheads removed....right side is cleaned up and the left still has some foam and hasnt been touched...also cut out the fuel filler hose box....had to stop due to rain...pulled it outside with the forklift to cut and planned on grinding a little...mother nature had other plans....still looks rough but in the next few days it will start looking a lot better......

Ok the grinding continues...Got smart and got some Tyvex suits....One whole side is ground and ready...Coosa transom board will be here tomorrow and the skin is scuffed and ready...found a guy to get me the remainder of the boat stands for cost....oh...bought a Makita electric 7" grinder to sand the glass....blew out two brand new backing disks...man them things when they go they go...scared the hell out of me!!...more pics soon....going to get the bonding puddy for the transom in the am....

I had an 89 256CSS and ran a Suzuki 225 efi on it. It was no speed deamon but I would load that thing full of fishermen and fish and it ran well. My friend still runs it with well over 1500hrs on the motor. That big windshield will keep you dry.

I was on the boat with the previous owner and it had an older Mariner 200...It was maxed out at 26mph and was slowwwwww....Im thinking a 250 outboard should do good...Im not looking for a speed boat but not a total dog either....
Bluewater 26...2" thick 4x8 sheet came in today..got it cut and ready to install hopefully Friday night...The boat guy two shops down has 5 transom clamps they use when doing their new boats....I bought the bonding puddy today, got a 5 gallon bucket to use on the transom and the rest of the boat re:floor bonding, bonding the stringers to the floor, etc...I'll be taking more pics soon of the progress and the fiberglass livewell I picked up today for 300 cash...45 gallons, free standing and sweet, it had a mark from the mold when pulled and saved 600 just for a little mark...great deal!!

Heres a picture of the livewell and the coosa board cut and ready to go in tonight...the transom is all sanded and ready.....picking up the boat stands-marine A/B 3/4 ply and the transom clamps today...

Guy was using his transom clamps so i made my own...They worked out great!!...Two of my guys stayed late and helped, I just had some skin cancer removed from my hand and the chemicals wouldnt have been good for it...Anyway...Mixed up the bonding PB and troweled it on the coosa...We placed it in and clamped...drilled some holes on the inside for air bubbles to escape...while clamped we used a rubber mallet and watched the PB come out through all the holes in the transom from the trim tabs-transducers-old motor bracket etc....she's kickin off now and probably will wait till late saturday to remove the clamps...heres a couple pics......

Clamps are off...Thing is strong a heck and bonded really nice....Used a cake icing bag for the PB to fill the gaps on the side and bottom....Then used a rounded end cake icing knife to make the filets on the sides and bottom of the coosa...Gotta tell ya, 8 bucks at the craft store for the icing bags and knife saved tons of time...Going to start tabbing in the coosa with 1708 Sunday...Next is all my reference marks for the stringers and then I can remove whats there...Sand the area and start fitting new stringers...More pics to come

Stringers are out finally!!!!...My best friend petey stopped bye to help me get em out (pulled my ******...going to use them as a template for the new stringers...looks a lot different now 2 weeks in!!!...Going to gring the tabbing off tomorrow...heres a couple pics...

In looking at pictures of the "gutting", I noticed there's a rail along the hull sides, that I assume was for the deck to sit on. Are you going to replace that or have you given any thought to lowering the deck to chine level which would give more cockpit depth and cut down on the amount of material needed for the stringers and bulkheads. I'd know it would be an easy fix to extend the cabin bulkhead to the new/lower deck level.

Hey Mike, I removed the side rail because it was rotted and will be replacing it before I do the stringers to give me a side to side level for the new stringers...I hadnt thought about lowering the floor any, if I did that the tank would have to be lower height wise and thus longer to gain that back...My back went out so I didnt get to work on it anymore...Hopefully back to it this week...Main thing im struggling with now is if I should use Coosa throughout for the stringers and bulkheads or use the 3/4 marine ply I already bought...Original floor drains will not be used, I am using floor drains with an internal ball so water cant flow back up through the drains

I bought a 5 gallon pail of bonding compound, not just for the transom but for that as well as when i install the stringers-bulkheads and floor...Its a vinylester puddy, looks like peanut butter, used red MEK to see when it was thouroughly mixed, spread with a notched trowel, drilled holes in the coosa for air to escape and used two rubber mallets to get the air out and make the bond really good...material squeezed out of the holes on the inside as well as all the holes that were in the outer transom skin...

Project looks like it's going well. I'm gonna have to stick around so I can watch this project grow. Sure seems to be moving along pretty quickly. Love those old Duskys!!!

Got the transom all buttered in on the side and area for the drain (dusky didnt have any)....got the sides and top tabbed in....last night we put one full layer of 1708 on the entire transom....one more full sheet and the transom is done...ive been down with my back, but having friends help is keeping the rebuild going...I pulled the trigger and ordered all Coosa board for the new stringers and bulkheads...I settled on the fact im doing a ton of work and why put something in that can rot....probably spent too much and marine A/B would be good, but.......heres a pic of the transom wiht tabbing-first full layer of 1708

just a note...the white or lighter areas you see arent air bubbles...its the sanded PB that came through when we first clamped the transom in place...you can clearly see the PB filets on the bottom...man a cake icing knife worked awesome for that!!

My body guy starting to fair the back....glassed in the original drain holes and large hole at the top where the rigging went...she barely fit in my paint area...glad hes doing the sanding.....
