Default Placement of temp sending unit.

Engine is a Yamaha OX66 200HP. I have the sending unit, it does not fit where I thought it should go. The sender part is too long to fit in the hole so maybe I have the wrong place or the wrong sender. I don't know the terminolgy but where I thought it went was at the top of the head. When I removed the bolt I could see the water in there.

Am I in the right place? Can someone post a pic maybe? Thanks.
