Well we studied the weather a little more and decided to make the run to the Islands out of West Palm. Seas were 2-3 over with a nice East wind @ 10. Found a killer weed line and loaded up on some nice Dolphin. Got outside the OBB cut and got on the radio, what a greeting from OBB. Super nice, great service, customs was great and the room was beautiful. Went to the casino that night, went out Saturday and got some nice snapper and a couple of Cero Mackeral, and a ton of trigger fish. Went to a local place to eat fried Lobster and drink ice cold Kaliks that night! The next morning rolls around and the seas had done a little changing. They called for 3-5 in the stream with a building NorthEast Swell. We took off and thought it was going to be a long day of bouncing and getting wet. One thing I can say...I LOVE my Sail 2360. Seas were more like a true 4, nothing with the tops breaking off and we ran 25-28 knts the whole time with not a drop of water thanks to a wind off of our stern. No weed lines but a nice safe dry ride. The boat handled flawless as did the twin Yamas. Burned 115 Gal the whole weekend. I was very impressed the whole time with the Boat and engines, and my A65 even worked! Great trip and would stay @ OBB again anytime. Just thought Id share as I am still on the high watching the video of the trip and will be cooking a little Dolphin for the neighbors tonight for football!
What's the deal with the cruising permit. I heard it was $300 for boats under 30'. That makes it tough for just an overnight.
I am glad to here West End is back!. It just used to be a customs stop for us on the way to Walkers, but that has been 10 years since I lived in Stuart.
I am in NC now, but I have a hankering to tow down and get back over to the islands. I have some great memories.
The permit was $150 for the 3 total people on board. I think it jumps to $300 for anything over 4. Someone might correct me on that. I was nver at OBB before but have been to Bimini many times. I can honestly say West End in my opinion is much more fun and the hotel was truly a resort with the service to back it up. Cant wait to go again!
Glad you had a great time. WE is alot of fun and OBB is a real nice place. I love the pool but my boys call it horsefly pool for a reason. Just so you and others know, not making any judgements, but you are not allowed to fish before you clear customs, that means you can't have any fish on board. The chances of getting caught/trouble are remote but you never know when the customs guy will come out of the a/c and go through your boat. I have had it happen twice in 50 trips. How about some pics?
Thanks dpdash. I had no idea as I thought you could fish Florida Waters which is where we found the lines as long as we did not fish in Bahamas waters. I will definitly not do that next time as it is not worth the risk...but dam its gonna be hard to go over a matt like we found! I need to pull the trigger and join so I can post pics plus THT has given me such good info since I have been on the site (just like you provided). Now that you mentioned it, we did get bit several times in the pool. I think my buddy was 4 for 10 in the swatting catagory with the largest just short of a 3 foot wing span.
Ok...that makes a little more sense. Still a stupid tax, when you think how much money it keeps out of the islands, because folks don't want to pay that in addition to the other expenses of a short hop over and back.
Will do Anthem. We will be planning another trip soon, maybe when it cools down a little. Would love to go before the North Winds hit and the Guld stream gets nasty. When is a good month to cross maybe after October? I guess it all depends on our "cold fronts"!

Exactly, it is a "play by play" call after November until April.
