Bmarkey,, i went to Tuppens when i was looking for boats as well,, as you know they have bben there forever,, but they are not cheap,, the prices on boat row on US 1 in Pompano, Light house point are very competitive,, i know its a haul for the Royal palm area,, but its worth the time,,about 45 minutes to an hour to this hot bead of boat retailing,,,
Where would I get off I-95 to hit the top of "boat row"? I'd like to take a ride down there and hit several dealers.
Any other such conglomerations of dealers in SoFla?
You're right about Tuppens. I don't know how they stay in business. At the show, they sold a 19-foot Key West (with 115 four-stroke Yamaha) right in front of me ($19,470 or close), then would not honor that price with me.
Bmarky,, I-95 to Hillsboro Blvd,, go east to US#1,, Head south on us #1.. you will start to see dealers about just south of sample..You will se Key West, Key Largo, Grady White,Scout, Wellcraft,Auquasport, sea Sport,Sea swirl,Cobia,Donzi,Sea Ray,Century, and many more,, they are spread our on both sides of US#1,good luck,,, you will have a good saturday afternoon,,all outboards are represented..
Hi,Do yourself a favor and stick with a Parker....Mako.....or even a used Sea Craft! Remember you get what you pay for and I agree you have to drive the boat is a chop. I have a 19 foot Wellcraft now and it handles picture perfect with a 115 Johnson. I will soon ( I hope) get a boat a little bigger but I would only get the boats that I have mentioned. There is also a good reputation on Cape fear Boats also but I have never rode in one. Good luck,Davey
In the size range you are considering (19-21 feet), just about every manufacturer has a model and they actually vary very little from each other at 1st glance. So, you have a million choices and you're going to have to use some kind of system of elimination to get down to maybe 2, 3 ... maybe 4 choices.
It sounds like your looking at non-bay-boat styles ... or a deep vee for lack of a better description.
Ignore the prices you're seeing, for now. Compare the Pro-line, Polar and Sea Fox to a Grady-White, Triton, Scout or Boston Whaler. You'll see the difference in quality right quick. Of course, you'll see the difference in price, too. After you've determined the level of quality you want and can pay for, then start looking at everything having to do with layout and functionality. Cross off the boats that don't have the features and function that you want. Pay close attention to what is standard and what's optional and make sure all of your price quotes across brands are for equivalently equipped boats.
Lastly, once you've narrowed it down to the finalist shop hard for price. Those prices you're seeing are high. Those guys can do a lot better than that. As an example, if you decide on a Key West 2020 CC, call at least 5 Key West dealers even if they are too far away to actually purchase from. Their prices will be all over the place, but you'll get an idea of what a low price is. Then get your local dealer to come down to the "good" price you find.
One final suggestion ... check out the Cape Horn Boats ... 17, 19 or 21 might suit you nicely.
Good Luck
