Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
no problems here. over 100 hours with the ethanol, never ran it low just mixed the old with the new and it runs great. I run the boat several times per week and this may help. sitting is good for no motor.

Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
i have a real NON horror story. my 1986 16' wahoo with 70 2-stroke was actiing up all spring and early summer. my wife was getting more frustrated with the problems we were having than i was, so i convinced her that if we bought a newer, bigger boat with a 4 stroke, we'd have less problems. It worked!!

Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
Burned 1,000 gallons of E10 in my 1998 Regulator this year....the only thing I noticed was that my gas gauge was more accurate this year....maybe in years past it was getting gummed up? Who knows. But knock on wood so far so good.
I'll let you know in May after it sits for the winter....
RE: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
Wow . . . if you had read THT ethanol threads 6 months ago on E10 . . . You'd have thought the world was coming to an end. Just a bunch of Y2k, Killer Bees, BS hype.
RE: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
I mixed MBTE and E10 half and half in June and have had no problems with 40+ hours on a 1999 Volvo Gsi. I checked the Racor with 20 hours: some dirt but no water.
However, gas mileage has dropped from 2 nmpg to about 1.6, and the engine seems to be louder than it used to be. E10 used to drop my mpg on my old Isuzu four-banger maybe 10% but has had no affect on the 4.6 liter in my Explorer. Go figure.
RE: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
So far, so good. I wasn't even aware of the E-10 until well into the season; I repowered in early July with a 150 HP Yamaha HPDI and I've run about 30 hours since then with no hint of a problem yet; I had service on the new motor at about 18 hours and no problems were reported to me either. And I do like the new motor; quieter and almost smoke-free and much easier on fuel and oil than the old 150 HP carbed motor, which itself was a very fine motor for many many years.
RE: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
I followed the recommendation of most of the experts....ran my 100 gallon tank down to about 1/4 with the old gas before filling up with the E-10. I have a 2003 Yamaha HPDI OB
I never noticed any difference. Checked the Raycor filter and never saw any water. I also have always used Ring Free and continue to do so.
My BIGGEST concern now is winterizing with the E-10. I am following the suggestion of the majority. Emptying the tank way down and refilling with fresh gas in spring.

Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
140 hours and about 400 gallons of E10 have gone through my F225 no problems. My mechanic told me the change the water separator filter every 30 hours to be on the safe side, which I have done but haven't seen a thing in the fuel.

I have not yet fed my Yammy ox66 ethanol...but I know its coming. All I have read on this board are horror stories. Does anyone have any smooth transition story to share? Particularly with outboards. I figure if I use a 10 micron filter and drain most, if not all, of the old MTBE gas then I will be ok...Thanks for sharing
No problems with my 7.4 MerCruiser engine. I use a gasoline additive on all my engines ----- (land & water based). (Marvel Oil / 4 ounces to every 10 gallons). ----(Safe for O2 sensors & Cat converters)!
Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
My family owns the following Yamahas: 130 2-stroke, 115 4-stroke, 200 HPDI. Average hours per motor this year is @50, all with E10. Starton and RingFree was used on each motor. Zero problems, zero water in gas.

He doesnt want the E-10 to sit in his tank all winter. I dont either my tank is plastic and there is reports that it softens plastic gas tanks!!! Might be a rumor but thats what i heard.
