RE: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
2002 150 hp 2-stroke Yammi carbed
trailer so I fill up at road stations. topped off at beginning of season along with a new filter, been run down to half 3 times since then, each time filled up again with E10, no problems
I was more confident at the start because I replaced a fuel gauge sending unit and saw the inside of the tank or at least a small bit of it. looked cleaner than my kitchen floor.
Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
'94 40HP Merc ELPTO.
Ran the last tank of my MTBE fuel 3 weeks ago. Switched to a tank with fresh E10 and ran it about 30 minutes to get home. It hiccuped once (that I noticed) after about 10 minutes and no incidents since then. I have run it about another 5 hours since then at a variety of power settings.
No problems with my car or truck either.

I have not yet fed my Yammy ox66 ethanol...but I know its coming. All I have read on this board are horror stories. Does anyone have any smooth transition story to share? Particularly with outboards. I figure if I use a 10 micron filter and drain most, if not all, of the old MTBE gas then I will be ok...Thanks for sharing
I DO NOT have any problems with the "NEW" fuel. I have a 27' cruiser with a 7.4 MerCruiser V8 & a Bravo 3 - I/O drive. I have always used "Marvel Oil" in the fuel of this boat since it was new(1999).------ (4 ounces to each 10 gallons)--------- Now, with the new fuel, I have increased the oil to 6 ounces to each 10 gallons. The engine runs VERY quiet and smooth!---- Just sharing some information with other boaters! ----------- Greg
RE: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
I mixed 50 - 50 in the spring with e-10 and mbte ran the tank down in a week or two and refilled wiht straight e-10, i mixed it because I didn't read all the hoopla until after I did it. No problems so far my tanks and fuel system are only three years old so that helps.
Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
Just changed my filters this weekend and there was nothing but gas in them. The boat has 60 hrs on it and the filters were changed at 12 with the first service. I run Ring Free and Startron all the time and have had zero fuel issues.
Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
I had a 32ft 1973 coronet i purchased in 1996 sold in 04.I boat out of Staten Island NY .up here we have been using ethanol for a few years i did nothing special when the switch was made to eth and never had a problem with h2o or solvent effect gumming things up (twin 360 chryslers) used stabil for winter layup.
RE: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
Have had ethanol in New york for a while now with no problems but just looked at some ethanol horror pictures in -photos-. My question was does anyone sell a clear-seethru fuel line so I can monitor exactly what gets past the filters and fed directly to the engine. I figure I could TEMPORARILY hook up some clear tubing from HD but I want it to be safe and permanent for at least one season at a time.

I've had zero problems. I changed to a 10 micron filter, ran the boat low on fuel (under 25%) and loaded up with E10. I've done about 80 hours on E10 so far....
Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
I've been running E10 in my new Parker since March (70 hours) and have had zero problems so far. The boat is rigged with a Yamaha 10 micron fuel/water seperator.
Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
It doesnt effect new boats. You have a new tank!!!!

Re: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
Filled up before winterizing, and this spring changed the fuel filter & water separator. Ran tank down to almost empty before filling up with e10. I have now burned through about 420 gallons of e10 and no problems so far.
RE: Anyone have any non horror stories with ethanol??
I have been waiting to submit until after my last offshore trip of the season (didn't want to jinx myself!). Bought a used Parker with a 2000 Yamaha SW Series II 250 HP this summer from North Carolina. Brought it up to Mass where we are now using ethanol.
After running about 200 gallons through I haven't had the least bit of problem. I credit a lot of it to using Startron religiously. Haven't even had to change the fuel filters, although I check them regularly.
