power steering vs hydraulic steering

i am repowering (more restoring) a 1978 wellcraft airslot 24 the boat currently has power steering and i also have hydraulic steering available (charlynn) i salvaged off of my last boat. either one is going to take a bit of work with my repower as there is no fresh water cooling on the boat currently so i'll have to figure out a way to mount a raw water pump (probably crankshaft) if i use the power steering . the pully system is fine if i go with the hydraulic steering so its more hydraulic vs power hydraulic that i'm concerned about

the motor is a 5.7 mercruiser

Thought about the same however when with the KISS Method-- Mercury has be doing it for a long time and it works just install an alpha setup parts are everywhere cheap or purchase new whole unit engine with OD
