do it right the first time and put triple Zuki 300's! you will never be lacking power and the fuel burn will be best throttled back. the 300 zuki weights only 5# more than the yamaha 250's plus: timing chain vs timing belt, larger displacement block (more torc), forward off set powerhead for better weight distribution, better gearing so that you can spin that big 16' prop (vs 14 7/8"). I could go on but i think you get the picture.

I would say the Evinrude ETEC's. Yes I know I am a dealer but we do not have any problems with them. Gives you everyting the 4 stroke does without all the parts involved.

I agree with the ETECS, they weight less and burn the same amount of gas as a 4stroker. They have a mach. tolerance
like no other.

I guess johnrudenj did not sell Etec's to any of these people on this thread. I have always been a Johnson/Evenrude fan and my 1994 150 has never left me stranded and only had it in the shop once (carbs rebuilt). Read this thread on the experence some on this sight have had with Etecs some good some bad.

Obviously if you are going triples, speed and performance are important to you. Stick with the power and performance of a two stroke. the fuel economy may even prove to be better than most 4's. Plus the service requirements are less. I would look e-tec or optimax.

Try them all out if its possible! Look into your local dealer networks. Who are you comfortable with? I did. Verado's were my pick. Love em.

Suzi 4-Strokes. Awesome engine & the 55deg on the V-6 makes them ideal for multi engine installs.

I dont care whos outboard you purchase you may have minor problems. Have we seen some problems?? Sure we have. Have they been major?? Not really. Only one powerhead since the ETEC came out. And yes we sell alot of ETEC's, so we have plenty out there running around. Alot are commercial use. You can look at all the message boards you want. Who know's what is true and what is false. Go with what makes you feel right.
