I'll be in the Ashley river, watching the show from Brittlebank Park in Charleston, with a boatload of drunks . The percussion you get on the water is awesome!
Last time we went did this, there must have been 150 boats anchored up and pouring drinks! The real riot happens when the show ends, everybody pulls up anchor and races up the river to the boat landing. I go further upstream to a remote landing near my house - navigating a narrow, winding river in the dark is a trip!
We plan on heading out in the Gulf and watching the fireworks on Manasota Beach. We'll be tying up to a friends boat, seas permitting, and will probably keep some lines wet while were there.
Just hope we don't start sinking...I'd hate to think that the one time I need to fire a flare is during a fireworks show

In to Deep--That's a funny thought! In DC if your boat was sinking you would just step onto the next boat over and walk to shore. There are hundreds of boats all anchored up in a small area between the Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial. Sure is a beautiful sight though!
I want to hang with W-N-W down in deerfield! go to that lil place right off the beach (Think its called the patio now) have some rock shrimp and nice frozen drink....AHHHH Florida!!
Fireworks are great but the 4th is beginer night on the bay by us. (Barnegat Bay, NJ) The fact that alot of them have been drinking all day makes it much worse !
I know you have a holiday on 4th July and set off fireworks...
Is this the day you eat turkey...thanksgiving?..
Sorry if My knowlege of celebratory days in the USA is lacking......just curious is all..
(We eat turkey at Christmas, and used to let off firecrackers on Guy Fawkes day, but now the fireworks are on New years eve! - or when Olive Oyl finds sees the credit card slip with my latest boat purchase - whichever comes first! )...
You have a cookout, and you watch fireworks at night, it's NOT thanksgiving (I get that much)...
Your showing your patriotism...Got that!
You do it on the 4th July, Got that!
My question is, WHY????? What momentous historical event do you celebrate on 4th July? - Independence day? Boston Tea party Day?..Paul Revire(sp?) 'n all that? Or the end of the Nth V South War?...The Day the frogs gave you the Statue of Liberty? The Day Neil Amstrong took one small step? WHAAAT?
Sorry failed history very badly...it's probably obvious...
Why would anyone from another nation be expected to know (off the top of their head) - a date of significance to your nations peoples?
T'was a simple enough question.
(Confused somewhat by a recent email asking me about whether we have wild turkeys in Oz...leading me to wonder if July 4 was indeed thanksgiving turkey eating day!)

In a nut-shell we celebrate our independence from England. It's considered the official beginning of The United States of America.
