Default Quicksilver 3000 throttle control..removal

Has anyone tried to get one of these off? It is the side mount type with the trim on the left side and the trailer button in the middle of the upright arm. It has a red grab bar on the bottom of the handle to pull when going into gear. I have removed the allen head set screw that adjusts the tension on the handle but I can't seem to get the handle off in order to replace or repair the trim switch. I even tried to remove the neutral button to see if there is a bolt underneath but I am afraid if I pry any harder I will break it. Help! if you can. Thanks, Troy

The allen screw you loosened is the screw that holds the handle on. I believe you had to put it into Rev. to locate the allen. Am I correct at the location of the allen?? If so you just need to pry some more. Are you in a saltwater area??

Remove the thorttle only button from the center of the handle. It is PITA. Push the button down and move the handle foward like you were starting it. Fish the button back out move the handle around and it will come out. THe allen screw it the friction adj. on this one. THere is a B.F. nut behind it. 5/8" socket.
