Default SIMPLE ethanol question

Sorry, one more ethanol question.
I did a search on ethanol and read some very good info on effects and how to mix etc. But I did not see the one question I have...

Is ethanol labeled at the pump so you know what you are buying?

Thanks, I just wanted to be sure. I have not seen any here in Northeast N.C.

No, that is not correct. Labeling requirements for E10 pump gas, the ethanol we'll encounter, varies by state. Some require labeling, some not. In the State of North Carolina, I'm pretty sure the ethanol labeling requirements were removed in 2003, and any pump labeling you may see is voluntary.

If it is labeled on the pump, sometimes it is VERY difficult to see ...... look carefully

That would be consistent with NC govco ... let the people pump junk without knowing it!

I refueled down in Solomons this weekend and the pump was not marked E-10. However, the attendant confirmed that it is E-10.

BTW, if you are going down the bay, Solomons is a good place to stop for fuel. 89 Octane was running $3.24-3.25/gal. Up my way, you will pay $.30-.50 more than that...

In Virginia I have seen some stations that mark their tanks E-10, but others that do not. For example Sheets in Fredvegas marks theirs E-10, but the Sheets just 10 or so miles down the road in King George does not. Also, I know of other stations that are serving up E-10 that do not mark their tanks.
