moose,
I am looking at the 235 seapro, but also like the 220. My only concern was the lack of space behind the leaning post -- overall a nice looking boat.
I am based out of Richmond, and am in the final stages of buying my boat. Ed's Marine up here has good prices, but won't let me sea-trial a boat. I am headed to DB City Marina in Elizabeth City this weekend to do a seatrial down there. If they offer me a good price I am certainly willing to go with them.
I would appreciate anyone elses comment's on seapro dealars in the VA/NC area and these two in particular.
It ticked me off that Ed's Marine won't let me take a ride in something I'm going to spend 40K on!
Thanks
Ed
ps Moose, you can check out Ed's prices on edsmarinesuperstore.com I know it's a drive, but it's worth looking at to get a feel for
had the best prices on SeaPro when I bought mine a couple of years ago. Good you're setting up a real "sea trial". Chatlee has a small test "lake" (some might call it a large pond) on their property to test boats. Not real world ocean conditions, of course, but enough to get a feel for power at least.
ehock, If they're not going to let you sea trial it, don't buy from them. At least tell them you are not going to buy from them "unless" they let you sea trial it. That should change their tune. I would not buy any boat that I did not get to sea trial that "exact" boat.
Let us know when you buy your boat, i am looking at a 220 and 235 also. What power are you looking at on the 235? Baileydale, do you think the scuppers would be to low if you put a 250hdpi on a 220?
I hope you plan to tell the dealer who is willing to sea trial a boat that you plan to buy from Ed's.
It somehow seems wrong to waste the time of some folks who are willing to do their job, and then reward a dealer who offers only price and a kick in the ass.
Maybe this is one of the reasons dealers get unwilling to service boats purchased elsewhere.
Hey Baileydale, I forgot you have the 4-banger.
583lbs for the 4stroke
543lbs for the hpdi
What do you think, sounds like a fast rig to me.
220 Sea Pro with 250 hpdi
Ruggit --
I don't plan to seatrial elsewhere and then buy from Ed's. If any other dealer out there will take me for a ride and then offer a fair price i will buy it from them on the spot. I don't think that's unfair! They don't have to beat Ed's prices (as apparently they are low), but come pretty close. The ride is worth some premium.
In my opinion I am a damn easy sell. I don't want to jerk anyone around. I don't want to look at fifty boats, ask 100 questions and stop in half a dozen times. Just take me for a ride in the boat I have already selected, give me a good quote and I'll buy right there -- salesman's dream if you ask me.
As a retailer in another business, I've listened to folks on this forum talk about the miles they've driven, and the time they've spent grinding out the last couple of bucks in price purchasing a boat.
And then they wonder why they are at the bottom of the list for service and warranty.
Good luck with your purchase, and I hope you find the boat you want at a dealer who will take good care of you and your purchase.
Ehock..Welcome aboard. Sorry to hear of your misdealings with Ed's. Most Va. residents who've seriously dealt with them will agree they're asinine to deal with. Lowest prices ain't everything, but it is what keeps them in business.
If you'll go to Tidalfish.com (Virginia Angler) and do a search on Ed's superstore or Ed's marine, you'll find enough local comment.
I liked the 235 setup at the show, but I'm partial to the looks of those full transoms anyways.. lol
My family has a 2002 Sea Pro 220 with a 200 HPDI Yamaha. Love this boat. We got it rigged with the Tournament package (adds a really nice stainless rub rail) and outriggers. Cannot beat this boat for the price.
Got ours in Charlotte from Carolinas Performance Marine. They are very good on service and price. Boat lives in Charleston now.
