Right hand to left hand conversion

I am getting low hour 502 left hand to replace still running well 454 right hand engine. Boat is straight inboard. Thinking of changing pump direction on 71c tranny and then just put left hand prop on boat. Is there any concerns if I go this route. My thinking boat will just pull in other direction in reverse. The other option is new cam on 502 to make right hand.

If its a Borg Warner Velvet Drive gear box just reverse the pump and be done.
