This is the first information I have seen on the new Yamaha Z300 HPDI, so I thought I would post it.... http://uk.yme.com/page.cfm?pageID=60171

I also heard on another board about a Merc 300 hp powerplant. It was just referred to, no other info about it was reported, and I only looked on my own for info for about 2 minutes. You know anything about that?

Both the Yamaha Z300 and the Mercury 300 HP four stroke will be '04 model year engines. You may be able to get one pre-rigged on a new boat within a month or so, when '04 model year boat start being delivered. I expect repower units (non-rigged) won't go on sale until very late this year or early next year.

The Mercury 300 will be either turbo or super charged inline 6 and the top of their "all new, all Mercury" family of four stroke engines.

I willing to bet that Evinrude, Suzuki and Honda are all trying to figure out ow to get to 300 also !

I just had my 88 200 2-stroke Suzuki replaced with a 140 4-stroke. My dealer was telling me that Suzuki has a 200,225, and 250 4-stroke coming out now. (Limited availability from what he said). The 300 is scheduled for next year.

I say Bombardier should ficht the ol' johnrude V8's. Some head work, *minor* porting and some race gas and you're at 350hp! Yeah, baby.

I saw a gofast with 2 of those engines 4th of July weekend.

Cheers,

David
