I'll be Tuna fishing far offshore on the Midnight Lump (Louisiana) with Captain Devlin of ReelPeace charters in late January on the 30' GB center Console. I'll let you know how nice the room and ride are. The Gulf of Mexico is never calm like the Pacific and Atlantic. Many of the charters in the Gulf use Glacier Bay hulls. Good luck in your search.

PS C-Dory or C-cat Pilot House ??

I'm new to the board - started reading when I was researching cats for myself. I was almost ready to flip the switch on a 1998 GW Tigercat but then couldn't find anything positive about them on the web so I backed off and started looking elsewhere. I love the GB's but couldn't find one that I liked that was set up the way I wanted and that I could AFFORD...
Smalley, Run from that Grady unless they are absolutely giving it to you. There is a very good reason they quit making them in short order. You should be able to find some info on them.

No one that has been around cats long will touch them.

Save up and get a glacier bay, world cat, or the Hydro cat. I have owned both the GB & Hydro. Ran them across to the Bahamas alot.

They do look like nice boats. About comparable in price to GB and World Cat, no?

I hear that the new 30 CC GB is almost $200K, which to me is rediculous if true, plus I haven't heard anyone say they like it so far, so I will be interested in your extensive report on your sea trail. The 30' is more of a planning hull (thaank god) after the 32' semi displacement model flopped when they could not find engines or a gas station large enough to get it up to speed.

I am guessing the the 30 Prowler CC is now around $140K

and there are deals on the WC33 around $145, asking, new.

Here's an interesting one for sale that was rigged for fishing & diving - although I know nothing about the boat:

i have heard the 30ft GB is a pig and sucks down the gas.....but its second hand. first hand I have been on the cabin model of the 26 GB and I have an SL5 SeaCat - the SeaCat has more storage and is faster.....but the GB does ride better

I bought mine from another guy on this board who is big diver......it has roll control for 12 tanks and I have had four divers on it with all the gear....and you can stow everything so that the deck is clear.....I use the live wll to stor masks/fins between dives. Of course the guy I bought it from sold it and never looked back - but it works for me......

Renaissance marine(prowler) is in the process of coming out with the 30 in a walkaround pilot house version it shloud be out in a couple of months It's going to be pretty awsome it has almosta 11' beam and the ride and fuel burn is pretty much at top of class.
Used Hydrocats also are pretty nice for your use there is a 03 in usedboats.com inTX that was originally listed @ $125k that I think the guy is willing to take in the high 80's for it looks very clean and has a trailer
theres also a company in Alaska buildind a 30' cat with a pilothouse not pretty but looks functional google blackwatch boats
The Gb 30 is very nice and roomy if you can afford it

Ithink the best idea at this point is to go to Fla boat show in Feb. That way I can look at all of the models and layouts at the same time. No dealers of any type for cats in Charlotte. GB has been so great on working with me for things that are outside of warranty, I have to consider the 30 that they have. I am told by GB that they will have the 30' pilot house at the show. Depending on the layouts, I am thinking that I am just going to have to deal with towing a wider beam and go with a 30' - 32' boat. The truck can handle it, now I just have to check and see what the pocket book can handle.

At this point a small poontoon trailer pulled behind the GB might be the best solution to carry the gear.

Just kidding

I have seen up close and personal Peace and Devlin's big new Glacier Bays. Not impressed. There is not much room left by the big console and seat. You will have trouble fishing around the back of that thing (unless you go out on the swim platform). From what you have described, you need to be looking at 32' twin vee, they are ROOMY enough for what you want and then some. If you can get down to Cypress Cove or Venice Marina in Venice, LA it is like a catamaran boat show any day of the week and you will see the difference in room is obvious. Let me be clear, I'm not knocking the Glacier Bays, just not near as much room as a Twin Vee of similar size, they ride awesome (rode the 26 not the new big ones).
