Default RPM gauge not working???

Got a Yammie 200 SSII ox and the rpm gauge is not working but showing a faint looking E...Anyone got any ideas what to look for?

Don't know about Yamahas, but with my Evinrudes and Johnsons it has always indicated a blown regulator/rectifier. Try using an alternator tester on the battery while the motor is running. If reg/rectifier is blown it will not show charging.

Most motors use reg/rectifier pulse for tach signal.
