Default Stern lift?

Hi all,

I have a 23' CC with twin F150's. The boat mostly sells with twin 115's, so I have more weight on the transom than most. The tabs are also pretty small (not sure right this minute about exact size but about the same as my 18' flats skiff).

My question is this. Will switching the lower units provide more lift at the transom versus the standard installation (in other words turn the wheels opposite from what they do now)?
Will different props (black Yamaha SS on there now) make more lift? Will bigger tabs work without messing with the motors or buying new props?

Does any of the above create any other problems?

Thanks for looking,

Willem

As I understand it, 4-blade props will give you more lift. Until now I haven't ever tried 4 blade props. I just got a set of Merc Rev 4's to try on my boat, but I'm waiting to get the boat out of the shop before I can give 'em a try.

4 blade props will give you more lift and I would consider talking to the guys in the vendor forum who sell the foils that bolt on to your lower unit. It sounds as if your a good candidate for them.

Thanks for the replies

I had 4-blade on the flats skiff and I know it worked there but I also heard that it's not the best option for offshore boat (rough water?). Maybe the prop experts can chime in here?

I was hoping the tabs would be the answer

4 blade props (they are better for rough water), permatrim foils (they capture water after the prop and use it for lift), bigger tabs, and moving weight forward will all help your situation.
