Default Painting Starboard

I know Starboard is intentionally non-porous etc.., but I need to ask if there is any possible way with any product to paint White Starboard Black. My mechanic installed White Starboard on my console to mount my controls etc., but it was supposed to be black. So if I can't paint it.....there goes another hour and a half labor.

Also, any good leads on where I may find a fairly thin sheet for my console?

It'll be easier and cheaper to buy black starboard than try and paint it!

Really? Another classic case of excepting S@*T work and paying for it.

I never specifically told him "black", however before he started the work I sent him a picture of a similiar set up (which was black), I volunteered to start looking for the material myself, and I was under the impression that he was going to contact me before starting the job so that I could show him where to put the gauges etc.. So it's kind of tricky. I didn't physically say BLACK.
And incidentally, I have found out for certain that Starboard cannot be painted.

Communication gap. That's what happen's. You don't get what you wanted and end up paying twice.

My helm is a bright cream colored gel coat and I got some flat black formica and put it on and it is fine. You cannot glue it to the Starboard but you can screw it down using pieces of Teak or something that would make it attractive and functional without redoing it completely.
I just glued down the formica and then routed out the holes for instruments and other devices. Quick and easy and non glare.

Yes, you can paint starboard black or any color you like for that matter. You can then paint it over and over again because that is what will be needed. Very little will stick to polyethylene which is what Starboard is.

Oh, if you don't want to be repainting every week or so you will need to get a piece of starboard that was manufactured in black.
