Default Anchor Chuck Problem

I have a 2100 Sea Chaser that comes standard with a Anchor Chuck, you can see pics of it below. Once I pull my anchor up, I need to secure the shaft of it to the chuck so it does not bounce and mess up my bow. Currently, I use a steel clip that I put between the eye in the cleat and the 3rd link in my anhor chain, then I wrap two bungies around the entire anchor chuck and anchor shaft but this can become a pain, especially when I have someone else on the boat with me and I need them to release or retreave my anchor for me, I have to tell them how to loick it in place and all that. Any good suggestions? I know they make some devices I have seen at boaters world and west marine but none of them look that good to me. What works and what is everyone else using?

I am considering something like this:

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...productId=7802

The problem is I need to secure the anchore shaft, not the chain, if I only secure the chain, the anchor will still bounce. I was thinking of drilling a hole in the shaft and locking it with this pin device.

We have used 3/16in nylon parachute cord and just tie the shaft down. You can just tie a bow in it like tying your shoe. it come's out easy and is secure. You can even tie regular knot's in this stuff and it untie's easy too.

I use that very item.

It secures the chain and a bungee cord keeps the anchor from rattling. You can't see the chain stopper in this photo but you can see the bungee cord. The other end hooks on the bow rail. I've been doing it this way for a couple of years and it works well for me.

My HydroBubble sits in the pulpit and is held in place with a Windline chain tensioner.

I also have a 'safety' that I made up using a piece of parachute cord and a stainless steel snap that connects to my port bow cleat, and clips to a link on my anchor chain.

The safety is partially obscured by the pipe insulation I put on my anchor chain to keep it from scratching up the deck.

Hope this helps.

I see you have what looks to be a PLOW style anchor. I am wondering if I should get one of those instead of the FLUKE i have now. Will a PLOW be better for me and easier to set? I see a lot of boats have em. I should make this decision before I start getting something to hold it all in place. What do you think.
