Default Morse throttle controls

Last fall after pounding into a head sea I found my starboard throttle out of sync. I can only get 3500 rpm at WOT. The throttle from about 1/3 to max just moves forward without tension or any increase in speed. I believe the pounding knocked something in the linkage out of place. Is the linkage near the throttle or at the motor or both?

Anyone know how easy Morse throttle controls are to adjust? I would hate to spend the cash at the boat yard if it is a simple task to adjust the linkage.

The boat is a blackfin combi ( 1984 ) the controls are the original equipment

Morse are very simple to adjust. But you need to be able to get to the backside of them or unbolt them and pull them off the console, if you have enough slack in lines to do so. Probably just the tension screw that holds the collar of the cable has come loose. Very common problem with repeated vibrations, etc. There should be some adjustment at the motor as well so you need to check the throttle cable at that end as well however I suspect it's at the control end.

Under the control, you will see were the cable is held in place by a clamp. At the end of the cable, there is a tab and a screw holding it in place.By unscrewing the screw, the tab will free the end of the control cable(don't remove the screw all the way).Once you do that, have someone at the other end and pull the cable till the linkage just starts to move.Once that is done, adjust the control end of the cable till the throttle arm is set by screwing the end in or out as needed.Reinstall.If there is more slack, you can adjust some at the carb.
Forgot, under the control, there are some adjustment screws for how far the arm can travel.By adjusting them, you are able to match the travel of the other arm on the shifter. That is done first, then adjusting the slack in the cable.
