Re: boat transportation Do a Google search on Boat Transport or boat moving. Many of these are expeditors. I used "Speciality Shipping" and the boat mover was an independant contractor with a Ford 750 and a hydraulic trailer capable of 18,000 lbs and 35 feet long. It was picked up in Michigan and delivered to Pensacola Ship Marine Complex 3 days later. They could have launched it with the trailer, but I wanted it cleaned and waxed before launch. The transporter had 250K insurance, 1 million liability, and was bonded etc. He kept in touch at least once a day and I was very satisfied. Cost was about $1.25 a mile--but this was slightly over 3 years ago. I would figure on at least $2 a mile. A friend had a boat delivered to Pensacola from Maryland this week and it was about $2200. Look for a transporter which is going that way empty. Unfortunately this is not the best time of the year for this type of transport--most of the traffic is going North.
