Default Bay Scout 22

I am looking into a a Scout Bay Scout 22. There are 3 differnt boats all with differnt engine. The engines are the Yamaha Four Stroke 150, HPDI 200, and the Four Stroke 225. Wont the 225 be to heavy for that boat? The boat only ways about 1560 pounds? What would be the best engine to put on that boat. Thanks

All the same price? That's odd... unless the 200 and 225-equipped boats have '03 motors, and the 150 is an '04.

The F150 would be a great match for that boat, and should push it well into the mid-40's (depending on load, t-top, etc.). With its lighter weight, that's the motor I'd go with... but it should cost less, if the motors/boats are same-year...

There is no way those should be priced the same. The F225 and 250 HPDI are almost exactly the same in price. And the F150 should be considerably less than an F225. Be sure to check model years, as Ed mentioned.

There not the same price. There's about 1,000 dollar differnce between them. The 225 four stroke boat has no options on it. The 200 HPDI has the Lenco Troll Tabs on it. And the 150 Four Stroke has the trim tabs and indicator. So thats the big differnce in price.

Here's how I would approach it. The 225 four is too big and heavy and probably just plain overkill. The 200 HPDI and the 150 four weigh about the same. The boat should be noticeably faster in top end and also hole shot with the 200 HPDI. I would guess that at normal cruise, the fuel economy will be similar, but of course the four stroke has the innumerable advantages of fours such as no need to add oil, quieter at idle, smoother running, and newer design that is likely to have better resale. The 200 HPDI can probably swing a bigger pitch prop and thus at cruise will be turning quite a bit lower rpm, thus negating most of the noise advantage of the 50 four.

I think you will really like the trolln tabs if you do flyfishing or get up into the creeks much. If the 150 pushes you to 30 knots at a reasonable rpm (5000 or less), I'd get that and "spend" the savings on the trollntabs.

I looked at one today. That seems to be allot of boat for 150 hp. The one i saw had a 150 OX66 on it. Really nice looking boat. I'm afraid it, like my KW, rides a little too deep though. Although it is lighter than my KW.
