OK I posted about 2 weeks ago and you guys were helpful in giving me advice. After looking at tons of different boats I think I found a pretty sweet deal and I need you guys' opinion....
I put in an offer for a 2005 Robalo 230 CC with a 225 YAmaha 4 stroke. It comes with a trailer and the boat only has 37 hours!!! Old man owned it and decided it was too much boat for him...
It is also equipped with fish finder, JBL radio/speakers, and some other little bells and whistles....
Its really a beautiful..clean boat
Now for the kicker does the price seem right??
I offered him 44,000 and I am waiting for his response...He was asking 53,900 which I thought was too high.
$54k does sound high, it's used, not much though, too bad for him. Buy a new car and go back to the dealer 4 days later and ask for a tradein, see what they offer.
Checked out boattrader and it looks like if I get it for $44,000 I would be getting a really good deal...others seem to be averaging 50-52,000 and they have slightly more hours than this boat! If I get it I'll post up the pics!

Sounds like you answered your own question.

HIs asking price of $54K seems about right for that boat. An offer of over 20% less is very bold of you.........Not to say bad, just bold. In being so bold you also risk making the seller dig his heels in and not come off his original price that much. Particularly if that boat is listed through a broker, if so, then you need to tack another ten percent on top of that.
If that boat is as clean and nice as you say and has the low hours and a Yamaha that is still under warranty, then I feel that boat is worth a transaction price of much closer to $50,000.
Not trying to steer you away, I love the Roballo but I know of a better deal if you don't need forward seating. A member on the board has a McKee Freedom 22 w F250 w less than 50 Hrs, loaded for an absolute steal. New price 52-55K, selling for 39K.
Well the problem is I do need forward seating...My intention was to get a family friendly/fishing boat and the Robalo had ample seating for what I need...Mckee craft are very nice but more of a pure fishing boat
Well the 225 does concern me a bit, but that is partly why I'm asking 44,000...felt the boat is a touch underpowered..still am working out a deal and will test the boat out on Monday if he accepts...I'll see if the 225 cuts it because you're right...its a pretty heavy boat..4700 lbs i believe
The 225 should push that boat fine. I have no idea on correct price but the offer wasn't more than 20% of the asking price so you shouldn't have made him dig his heels in so to speak.
$44 seems like a fine offer to me and expect to move up a few thousand to get it done. If the buyer sticks his feet in the sand, then he probably is not ready to move all that much from his asking price.
