Default Fluke style anchor size

I have a Scout 205, I was wondering what size anchor to get. I am looking at either a 6.5 lb anchor that is 24 x 18.25 w/ 11.75 in flukes or a 8 lb anchor that is 24.5 x 18.25 w/ 14.5 in flukes. Depending on which site that you go on they recommend different boat lengths for each anchor. One site says the 6.5 lb is good for boats 19-21 ft. and the other site says for boats 25-28 ft., etc. I will be anchoring in mostly areas with sandy bottoms, but some mud. That anchor size is just about the max my anchor locker will take. Just wanting some of your inputs. Thanks.

I have the Scout 210, basically the older version of your 205. I started with an 8# anchor. Then I got a Fortress FX-7, a Big improvement in ease of use and hookup. I think the FX-7 was rated to 25' boats. The mud foot does help, too.

Danforth 5H (Hi-Tensile) has the same holding power as the 8S (Standard) but is lighter and easier to handle. Not cheap, but excellent. Use 6 - 10 feet of chain, too. Chain is what makes anchors set well, quickly.
