Default problem with 2002 yamaha f225

I have a problem with my starboard engine. The buzzer is continuous and the oil lantern is flashing. The dipstick registers a full amount of oil. when i rev it up in neutral, the engine shuts down. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Sounds like low oil pressure which I would assume can only come from a bad oil pump. I'm not sure if that motor has a manual or electric pump. If it's electric it may be a wiring issue. Either way I'd get it to the shop asap before you cause any damage to the powerhead from low oil pressure. The motor was not overfilled with oil was it? when you pull the dipstick the oil is not foamed up or has bubbles in it does it? That too could cause the problem because when overfilled the oil foams and the motor looses oil pressure causing the symptoms you described. Short of that it's a low pressure probelm from something else, likely the oil pump.

Sounds like your oil pressure sensor is bad it highly unlikly that your pump is bad since it is driven by the drive shaft. I had this same problem on my motor and it was the oil pressure sensor. It is located right behind the oil filter.
