Default RE: storing boat in 2 car garage,

It all depends on the depth of your garage, how high the boat sits on the trailer, whether you are going to put in diagonally in a two car garage, etc. When I bought a boat, I told my dealer my measurements, i.e. the height of my garage, the width of my opening, and the depth of my gargage, and made the sale contingent on the boat fitting in my garage. The dealer knew what he was talking about, because there is not one spare inch in that space.

By the way my boat is 17'10" hull length, but about 21 with motor and removable tongue trailer.

A "break-away" trailer tongue can make a big difference in "how big " a boat will fit in your garage. Another factor is convincing your wife that your boat belongs there.

Four years of listening to my wife complain about taking up her parking space to store the 16' boat wasn't worth it. On the positive side, she was so glad to have the space back she didn't mind me blowing the new boat budget by $10,000. I suggest purchasing the boat you want now and keep it on a storage lot. Nothing worse than dealing with too small a boat just to save the storage fee. Your wife constantly having to walk through the rain past your toy isn't worth the savings either. Good luck!

My buddies garage is 36' deep. He can put his 30' Baja in it. In a "normal" residential garage, about 20'x20' you "MIGHT" get a 19' boat in on an angle a 18' boat straight in with a swing tongue and a 17 straight in without a swing tongue. This assuming the garage door in high enough.

A while back my brother, stepdad and I had a 21' double axle, a 19' single axle, a 12' whaler and a golf car in a 30'x25 (I think) garage with one wide door. It took a little work to get any of them in or out but we managed.

I have a 17' boat it's close to 22' long from the tip of the lower unit to the coupler on the trailer. I'll measure it again just to confirm those numbers. 25' carport not a lot left over when the boat is in place.

tightwadsjeeper has a 22' NauticStar bay boat that he gets into his 2-car garage. But, it goes in diagonally and he has to disassemble the console windshield and other stuff. Too much work for my taste.

Whatever the boat lenght you can add at least 4' for overall length, maybe 5' to give you a little cushion.

I used to store my 18' bow rider diagonally in my 2 car garage. With a swing away trailer I had about 2 feet to spare. The height will limit you more than the lentgh of the boat. I would't have been able to store the same boat size if it was a cc or wa.

Default RE: storing boat in 2 car garage,

thanks to all, i will soon know if my 22' boat will fit, only difference is that the garage has some type of covered foyer before you get to the townhouse, and that adds "x" amount of space to a standard 20' garage length. its a place i will be renting, i havent been there to measure yet.

My boat need 27' overall, tip of tounge to back of transome, Good thing it an inboard and no additional outboad hanging out, if it fits that will be so sweest and convient.
