Has anyone seen underwater lights on a 36' contender. I would like to mount a pair facing back behind the boat. The lights require a 2 1/2'' hole and have a 4'' flange.
I have been researching underwater lights for my Jupiter...there is a company that makes an LED underwater light that doesnt require a thru hull aplication and mounts like a transom mounted transducer would. Also as i understand it, the xenon light bulbs are expensive to replace and burn out more frequent...Leds draw less electricity and are much cooler....I will try to find out the name of the company and post it......jake1250
if you find those lights I would be interested. I looked into installing the ones with the xenox bulbs, but as it turned out I did not have access to where I wanted them (which was mid ship on either side of my console). The instalation would have cost more than the lights.
There's a co. that makes a "swim platform light" which is designed to be surface-mounted on the underside of the swim platform. There's a big Concept CC down the canal from me that has one mounted on the transom, underneath and between his Verados. I can't remember where I've seen the lights for sale, but they were relatively inexpensive- I believe less than $200- far less than the $grand or so for the thru-hull bronze xenon lights. I thought it was a great idea and may do it myself. Mounting the light on the transom means it's out of the water while underway, so there's no drag or danger of damaging the light while at speed. A small hole in the transom for the power feed is all it takes.
Exactly....In fact since my last post, I spoke to a friend who has the xenon, and he said that one night he loaded the boat on the trailer with the light on and it got hot and burned out....He was pretty pissed and said the replacement bulb was pretty expensive, plus he drilled a huge hole in the boat to install the darn thing...let me do a little research and i will get the brand of the LED style
Check out www.deepsea.com. They are all "thru the transom" though. Around $600 for a halogen. They also have the xenon and something called HID light. Check out the pictures in the photo gallery.
The lights I am considering are made by deepsee. They are the xenon model. There is not much room with 3 motors and some big trim tabs hanging on the transom. Has anyone seen this type of light rigged on a big center console boat.
I just had 2 50w Xenon light installed in my Regulator. Solid brass housing and it installed just like a regular brass thru-hull. I had them installed just in fron of the trim tabs. These lights should bring the bait right up to the bottom of the boat.
A little off topic-
I'm thinking of new lights for the end of my dock, here in Florida there are quite a few with green flourescents... Like the submersible ones I guess. Anybody have any experience with the green lights? Think they're better or as good as white.
At Dania there were led lights that looked like hydraglows but were better on the battery and did not break as easy. i will see if i can find the info.

They're certainly easier on the eye's too.
LOL... Just followed B-F's link... Hmmm...$249.00
There is a Submersible 48" green light called the Green Magnet. Much brighter than the Hyrodglow. Have one on my boat and one under the dock.
