Message to all THT users regarding THT Sponsors

Over the past year or so I have opened the forum to a limited amount of marine businesses as sponsors. In doing so many forum users feel they no longer need to support THT with Captain’s Club memberships, believing sponsors pay entirely for the forum.

The truth is…..

While the support of THT Sponsors helps it does not replace much needed member support. Simply put, The Hull Truth relies on the support of its members in order to remain online!

I made forum sponsorship VERY affordable. In fact in most cases a sponsor’s fee equates to only one Captain’s Club membership per month. Several sponsor areas don’t pay a fee at all, relying on a THT user “clicking the link” in order for THT to even benefit from it.

Why do I even allow sponsorship, and why so cheap?

Many people in the marine business are avid THT users and believe in the concept here. These vendors need a place to show their support to our great members. I make the sponsor programs affordable in order to keep any one particular sponsor from dictating the flow of the forum.

Example: If Widget Engine Company was to pay $1000/mo to advertise on THT, and a member posted a problem with Widget Engine Company, if Widget Engine Company was financially vested in THT then they would want to control the content. I will never allow a business to control content on THT!
Solution: If Widget Engine Company was to pay $29/mo to advertise on THT, and a member posted a problem with Widget Engine Company, if Widget Engine Company was to pull out of its THT sponsor program due to this issue then the loss to THT isn’t as significant.

MEMBER SUPPORT IS VITAL!

I feel I offer users the best possible internet forum on the subject of boating and fishing. I labor 12+ hour days on the site and make sure it’s hosted on the fastest servers possible.
Please show your appreciation and support this forum with a Captains Club membership:
http://www.thehulltruth.com/captainsclub/join.asp

For current Captains Club members I ask you to consider purchasing “a wheel a year” for each year you have been registered on the forum – about 8 cents a day.

Oh – and please click the banner links whenever possible!

Thank you all for your support!

I have purchased an advertising program from THT, with my other user name (BoatBright) and I have to say, that it was extremly affordable, and I still plan on supporting THT through my personal user name (being this one).

Wiley, thanks for the explanation. As for you efforts, I'm pretty confident you are not blowing smoke stating 12+ hours per day. I've note your 3 AM post time and wondered if you were just getting up or just going to bed. Thanks for your hard work. Tom.

You beat the dealer on that one Snapper Head.

Has to be the most wheels ever purchased on a single table!

We should have a contest.

THANKS!

If you own a business and don't take advantage of Wiley's ad banners you're missing the boat. His monthly fee is downright reasonable. My business is not marine related but I couldn't pass it up. Most importantly it gives us a chance to support Wiley and THT!
