Default Performace Test: 31 Sea Vee/225 Opti's

I've been running the new boat a lot and she is already broken in. I am going to dedicate an afternoon to pure performance tests, but here is a quick report.

Test Conditions
Boat: 2003 31 Sea Vee "HeaVEEweight"
Engines: Twin 225 Mercury OptiMax
Fuel: Loaded with 250 gallons
Water: Loaded with 40 gallons
2 People on board (combined 400 lbs)
3 batteries, electric head, 6 fishing rods and associated gear

Results for cruise:

Each engine was burning 9.1 gallons per hour for a combined burn of 18.2 GPH
Speed was 37.1 MPH measured via GPS
MPG: 2.04 @ 4000 RPM

The yellow area in the upper right corner of the screen is Key Biscayne in Miami.

The original red line is my track heading out of Biscayne Channel (Stiltsville) and the second line is my tack heading back to my marina. You can make out the boat icon in the middle of the screen.

Here is a picture of her:

Double Wow that you can run a 31 ft boat @ 37 MPH and only burn 18 GPH. I did not have all that fancy equipment on the last boat I owned, but by less scientific means I determined that the twin 70 Tohatsu's burned about 13 GPH @ 4500 while making about 27 MPH.

On top of that, you probably had more hot babes on that rig in the 1st 13 minutes owning the boat that I had on my rig in the entire 13 months of ownership.

I'm green with en-VEE

Damn that thing is ugly...

Seriously, WOW. Beautiful. Just spent a day offshore in my buds 30 Intrepid...33-34 knot cruise sure is nice...great fishing boat as well. BUT with twin 225 carb motors our burn was more like 23-24gph at cruise. Sounds like those Opti's will be a nice fit.

Blokhead,
I am htting the gym right after lobster mini-season.

Last month it was "I'm hitting the gym right after I get the new boat!!!"

I can see why you chose the SeaVee, Contender's 2004 models just don't stack up:

Not enough shade with the standard T-top-

...And the bilge pump is difficult to access-

After a few trips to the sandbar in that thing, I would expect to see quite a few contenders listed in boattrader!
