Fountain offers these as an option on the 31 CC/TE. Has anyone opted for those motors on that model? I wonder about the extra weight vs. opti's (over 125#/engine) and if that older hull design/weight distribution is appropriate for those heavier motors. (Sundance - any real world experience with that setup?)
The last time (Jan 06) I knew Fountain was not offering that boat with the Verados. I had a client that wanted a 31 rigged that way and they would not build it for him that way. Needless to say, things may have changed since then.
Anthem just bought a 31 with 250 Verados. There are a number of recent threads discussing it and his paint job. Glen E started the threads so look below and you shall find them.
Look for Anthem, he just took delivery of a 31 with 250s. They redesigned the scuppers to raise them and keep the cockpit dry. Anthem's boat is lacking the flappers on the outside (only 31 I've ever seen without them), so some comes in, but we are taking care of that at the 20 hour. We hit 60 without breaking a sweat and realing pushing it! Easy cruise brings 2.1 MPG at about 35 mph and fast cruise brings 42 mph making 1.8 MPG (correct me if I;m off here Hector, can't quite remember!).
Sundance those are good numbers and I do not doubt those speeds or numbers. I know the 31 Fountain with twin 225 Opti's will get 2 mpg and hit around 63-64 @ WOT. I figure the 275 Verado's will get it up to around 66-67mph.
What is the fast and slow RPM curise at 35 and 42mph? My Fountain 38TE gets the best mpg (1.5mpg) at 3800rpm 42mph. My fast cruise is 4200rpm at 1.2mpg and 54 or so mph.
Each 275 Verado at normal cruise is getting about 9.5 gph excelt for some reason the center engine is at around 10.8gpg...I wonder why that is?
Sorry guys, been kind of busy and missed this thread. Gdoc, I see my good THT buddies filled you in on the performance numbers of my boat. I had the 20 hour service, scupper covers are on. I actually got her up to 63mph a couple of weeks ago. I purposely went to the Miami boat show and tracked down Joey who introduced me to the main engineer at Fountain who explained to me that the construction and its proportionate weight was reconfigured slightly to accomadate my engines (i.e. stringers and transom). Needless to say I'm thrilled, with these motors, and the boat rides incredible. Let me know if you need anything in particular answered on this model.
Looking good Anthem! Glad to see you're enjoying her to her fullest potential! I bet you will see 65 by the time you get 100 hours on the engines and they loosen up more, she's a screamer!

Good news as I'll take any additional mile per hour considering the experience I had on that Bimini Start at the Grove Slam tournament on another boat. Quite a rush though!!!
Hector I didn't see you at the slam. I thought we were the only Fountain. We were the first out to sea at the start, looked like a real mess behind us. Boat looks great in the pics,

Adam, that is because I did not ride in my boat but my friends 28 Aquasport. I wish I had my boat, next time for sure, so I could have been out in front with you guys, I was not driving in the Bimini start, but man does that suck to be stuck in the middle. Actually pretty dangerous considering you can get launched from the boat with boats right on your a$$.. I saw Joe catching bait the day before, I waved and asked where you were. He just waved back. Don't think he recognized or heard me. We were about 50 yards from him. I also saw you pulling into Montys on Saturday 3:30p or so...but again I was to far. Was that young man on your boat your son? How did you guys do?
By the way, your boat looks so nice on the water. Hope you are enjoying her.
