Default RE: stolen motor

Did you file a police report to document the loss in order to take the loss off of 2006's taxes?

My father in-law had a chain saw stolen out of his truck once. It was a good saw except for the fact it had been dropped from the top of a tall tree by a neighbor and busted to pieces. The thief got nothing of value but the carry case and my father in-law got a new saw under his homeowners insurance policy.
