Just wanted to say, back in 1982 we bought one brand new witha v6 merc I/O. The boat was the smoothest running 20' i have ever been on. Used to take her outside in any sea and never got beat up.

Last October, I bought a 1989 V20 with a 175HP Suzuki, I had it out 3 time on Lake Erie and it ran like a champ thru heavy chop. Very dry ride. I am looking forward to ice out so I can get her out in the water again. Do you guys know of a web site or club where I can get info on the V20s, the Wellcraft site does not had any info on the V20s.

FishPa. I am part owner in a 1979 v20 with my brothers. Best 20ft boat I ever fished out of. We fished on lake erie also. The boat is now setting in my brothers driveway rotting away.I tried to buy them out but had no luck. never be partners on a boat again. I bought a new sport-craft last year on my own. I was going to E-mail you but could'nt find it in your profile. Thanks Tim

FishPA here's a spec sheet on the v-20 steplift from 1988. Hope this helps. I've been thinking about the website too. As far as I know there isn't a site yet. I'm thinking about putting one together . . . unless someone else out there has started one????

I bought a Wellcraft V20 CC back in 1976 and fished it hard in the Chesapeake Bay until I sold it in 1998. I know the hull is the same as the steplift but my experience was she handled snotty weather well, and was tough as nails but she was one of the wettest CC's I've ever been on.

In semi-retirment, she now enjoys the fresh water invirons of Kerr Lake. Stan

I grew up using my dad's 1974 V20 steplift. It was a great boat that we used for many years. I started looking for a boat about 2 years ago . After looking at a lot of boats, I found that the V20 was still best boat for the $ given what I wanted. Last year I found a 1994 V20 Fisherman w/150 Yamaha . It's in almost new condition . We fish it out to about 25 miles off North Carolina. It does a great job . It can be a little wet but a great ride. I would love to see a V20 web site or owners club .

Fish Pa. If you go to wwww.seatow.com go to the drop downs at top of page under boat reviews you can find reviews. If you start a club or find other reviews, please let me know. I own a 1988 with 1999 115 HP Yamaha. It is one of the all time classic all around boats. In 3 ft. chop with ahead sea it is a very wet boat. I have found that most boats with with this type of dead rise are wet and most people don't know what 3ft chop is. Wish I had more power but bought the boat as is, in great shape cheap.

Two of my friends have V20's and they pound like hell. One guy runs his in NJ and only goes outside in flat conditions. Anything above 2 feet is hell. The other guy is in Fla and we use it for diving and fishing. Once again in anything over a foot or two you get a beating. The Fla boat has 175 HP Rude and the one in NJ has got 150 HP Rude. Sorry guys I don't own one so I guess I can tell like it is. Pounding litte buggers.

Yes they are V20 steplifts. Like I said pounding little buggers. Now the guy with the Air Slot is right. That design provide a great ride. I guess they stopped building because they are sooooo ugly.

I have a 21 Airslot W/A and it does ride nice. We are potentially looking to get a V-20 this spring. I want to get away from the I/O in the Airslot.
